How do you "Break" a bot??

This was posted in the live Q&A by a mod today:

The part where he says "With various efforts like breaking bots" has baffled me, what exactly does that mean? I have some theories, but would jagex really go that far? Are bots like NeXus "Breakable" or are the shitty freebots the only ones at risk?

What's your take on the meaning of this?

They could break bots with a drastic change to the runescape client's code, like the advance to runetek5.

By updating the game they can stop the bots working for hours or even days. I think this is what they mean.

They mean when they do an update, or for instance in the sorc garden, sometimes one of the elementals gets stuck, and the bot just sits there since it's not in the right spot. I had the sorc garden bot log in and out of my account for 4 hours straight one time due to an update. I'm surprised that account didn't get banned or anything (yet).

I guess i was over thinking his words - i some how imagined them cracking open a popular bot and making some detecting system for when that particularly bot is used.

They probably do that to some extent, but I think they usually just fuck around with bots such as fake randoms, wilderness wall, etc.
