Actually, it's not patched. Funny how even Hamjamk (whose shop USES this method) doesn't even know that.

Viou was selling a similar guide first. Who cares? Did Viou really create this method? Hell no, it's been in use for ages. I guarantee I knew about it long before he did. He was just the first GP seller to sell out and try and make $ off the method we all use for sales. Should that give him a monopoly?

As far as it being Greg's Guide? Nope. Greg's guide is completely different, which shows that nobody actually even understands the method.

- No Contact?

If you feel I should not be posting this guide, why has nobody made an effort to contact me about it? The only word I've gotten from any mod in the last 24 hours is FiReZ asking me about RWT in Free Trade. If you really believe this guide should not be sold, and is in violation of the rules, why hasn't a single staff member contacted me about it?

Finally, as further proof that the method DOES work, here is a PM I got yesterday from h1j2q3, one of Sythe's biggest Runescape traders. He actually understands how methods work, and takes time to TEST them.

Not gonna fly. You have BANNED people in the past for selling your guide, so you saying that "just because it sells it first doesn't give him a monopoly over it" is fairly hypocritical of you to say.

HHN had no right to verify your guide and allow its distribution in the first place; Viou was selling it long before you were, and it has been long standing that if one person is selling a guide, another member may not sell the same guide.

 

Its in the upper lounge R2. I am just waiting for more people to get online to sort it all out. Will keep you updated.

 

Actually, if you look at the past, there has ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS been 2-3 people AT LEAST selling the exact guide I am. ALWAYS. Did I EVER ban them? Nope. I let them continue. I would only ban people who were selling EXACT COPIES of my guide. Just take a look back and you'll see, and note that 90% of the time they probably did STEAL my idea. Did I steal viou's idea? You can ask him, I guarantee he'll tell you that I didn't. Every seller used this method, and I don't understand how we can decide who invents a method.

 

I lurk guide sales forum like crazy, and for a long time. There were plenty of members banned for selling your guide, or if they were not banned, their threads were closed by you for selling the same guide.

 

I will make a much more detailed post in several hours; however, on my thread I CLEARLY stated that no other member may sell a similar guide (or the same, for that matter) as to do so would clearly just be an attempt to use my intellectual property for that member's personal gain.

You had no right to sell my guide in the first place, and I'm actually blown away that you are actually protesting this decision. The only reason I stopped selling the guide is because I thought that you had a better method and as you were selling for cheaper there was no way that I could compete.

IN REALITY, you were selling MY guide for a LOWER price. Therefore, I lost many sales and you made a decent amount of money off of MY GUIDE.

Viou, if it is the PM you sent me, dont bother. It has been passed up and is being discussed. This thread is just a show. The right solution will be reached in the upper lounge, just give them some time.

 

Viou, get real. You didn't invent this method. Everybody knew it long before you posted it on Sythe.org. Don't get carried away and call my guide a ripped copy of yours. I never purchased your guide, nor did I have anyone leak it to me. I already knew it long before you posted, and I can provide proof that I xferred orders to my customers with itbefore you posted it.

Wrong, Keg method was being sold by 3-4 people. I was the first to have it for sale.

 

I explained the situation to you on MSN, anymore issues regarding it then just hit me up.

My interpretation of events -

There seems to have been a mis-communication along the way, resulting in HHN verifying R2P's guide - which he shouldn't have.
R2P then obviously sold it (unknowingly didn't realise that Viou was too?), or unknowingly presumed that both of them were allowed to sell it. (Although Viou had the rights)... R2P considered that was okay because he had seen people in the past do it to him. He didn't think much of it until it was noticed by another verifier (Myself and others).

R2P shouldn't be held responsible for it because there was a series of errors along the line. However, he should have been to the wiser considering his previous roles on the site. (Paisa sometimes gets the better of us)

Obviously now R2P is angry at the closure of his thread, but the rules of the verified guides section have since changed, prior to what he knew them to be. As a result the current situation has arisen.

So what happens now?

In my opinion a well earned lesson for R2P.

It's pretty patronizing; naturally HamJam I hope you can realize that we have a natural resentment towards each other. We are direct competitors in GP sales. I think I made my story clear to FiReZ, and he will agree that the current system is not perfect. Putting an xfer method in Guide form should not be a copyright on the method itself.

 

I seek to have the guide section rules changed or exceptions be allowed to be made, especially when an Xfer method used by every gp xfer person on this site is sold.

I am going to put an end to this "Whoever runs and sells it first" garbage automatically has the monopoly.

 

Will the staff finally re-accept that attempting to control guides sales will never work? This is obviously a case of a user, R2Pleasent, breaking a asinine rule that should have never been a rule in the first place. I applaud FireZ for taking the initiative and recognizing the problem at hand.

More on topic, there is absolutely no way to know for certain who came up with an idea first. In this case, however, it is blatantly obvious that the method is within the public domain, although private, as all the gold sellers use it. R2Pleasent thus has every right to sell the method due to it being apart of the public domain.

 

Agreed, although I appreciate the quick responses by the staff. I think it's a very complicated issue, there is no easy way to govern Guide Sales. Although, I agree that over-regulating seems to cause a lot of problems. Thanks again to FireZ for working it out <3

 

On a further note, I am re-opening both Viou's and R2's guide sales threads. They both sell a very good method and there's no reason they both shouldn't be able to sell it at the same time.

Either delete these rules as they clearly do not serve much purpose or please reevaluate, unless of course I am somehow misinterpreting this decision. Thank you.

 

So why am I in trouble again?

 

It's honestly unclear to me why both these users are being allowed to sell a transfer method at all. Free trade is just days away, and this is their way of scraping the bottom of the barrel.

A little more on topic, lets be completely honest here.. had R2 sold the guide first, he'd feel the same way Viou does, and vice versa. It's a childish game of 'I was here first so its mine.' Either let both of them sell the guide, or neither of them sell the guide, thats the solution.

 

Free Trade is days away, sure. You are acting like people aren't aware of that. Anyone buying this guide has a need to transfer before free trade, for whatever reason. No one is forcing people to buy copies, no one is misinformed about the current situation on Runescape. You'd need to be living under a rock on Sythe / Runescape.com to not know about the pending updates.

As far as claiming ownership of the idea, all I can do is refer you to my old Guide Sales. It's awhile back, but I allowed people to sell beside me even though they posted after me, and even when they had the same method. If it wasn't copied word for word, I had no way to prove they didn't know it before I was selling it. I was a mod at the time, and could have EASILY shut them down. Ethics got the best of me.

I still have mixed feelings about the sale of said guides.

It doesn't matter who 'owns' the guide. In fact, I'm not even sure how someone claims ownership over a transfer method, that in itself is ridiculous. Hence the reason why I said at this moment, it's a 'who can get their first' situation. I support FireZ decision to open your thread back up. Truth is, you both have the right to sell.
