    Simile means you are comparing him to be like something, metaphor means you are saying he is something. Entirely different concepts. They are both methods of relating one thing to another, but they do it in different ways and are entirely unique.

    Well a simile is NOT a type of metaphor, but I guess since you didnt explicitly word a phrase about it in OP, it could go either way.
