How defense works - Please confirm/deny

I was browsing another forum and found this..I never thought about it this way, but could someone tell me if it's true or not?


Defense is based entirely on your defense bonus. Therefore, if you have no armour whatsover on (+0 bonuses) the amount of mitigation will be the same whether you have 99 defense or 1 defense.

 

Interesting but i highly doubt this...

 

It would mean whip/dds staking would be totally stupid with anything higher than 1 defense..and pures could dominate mains, etc.

 

it's bogus.
I pk in corrupt vesta top and bottom with c. stat full helm on my turmoil pure.
On my main, i pk with non corrupt.
my pure gets hit way more than my 99 def main does.

 

This is not true on RuneScape, only on some private servers.

 

Do you "PK" or do you rush, and pop a little boner when you down someone . . .

 

Not true, as I have high defense and I often do F2P pking. People usually hit me less often than I hit them.

 

i pk, rushing is for bitches.

 

It's not truth as far as i heard, defense would be useless then lol.

 

I'm pretty sure the higher def you have the less your opponent has the likeliness to hit. That only applies when wearing no armor, which is how people got the idea for pures.

i've boxed a maxed main vs maxed pure and the main always won easily

 

when no arming def does matter, on my main 83-85-80 i can kill people 99-99-40 with ease

 

It's false, the higher your defense level, the more likely an opponent is to miss with an attack. Armour defense just reduces the chances of being hit.

 

Private servers my imply this, but I believe that runescape does not

 

As far as I know def level lowers the chance of your opponent hitting his max hit.

That's combined with your def bonuses to lower his max hit or something.

Don't really remember.
