    Banning runescape links

We should disable sites going to runescape.com.

Basically, every time you click a link your browser, (unless http referrer is disabled) it sends the destination website the url of the page you were on when you clicked the link. This only applies to links, so if you paste the link into the navbar or click runescape from bookmarks or browsing history you're fine. But if you click a link to RuneScape from a cheating website you are sending Jagex evidence you're a cheat.

Jagex does not care about that.
As long as you do not scream it off the rooftops you're fine.

Just because you come from a cheating site doesn't mean you're cheating. There are a number of reasons a person would go on a cheating site. For example, a guide to remove an unknown email. So, I don't think jagex would use this as a away to ban people.

They wont ban you just for being on Sythe.

Only if they have proof your selling, and they cant get that unless they want legal issues coming and barging into Sythe.

They can't ban for anything that isn't in-game evidence, so you won't have to worry about anything.

Also do you think they hire people to look at every person who looks at their webpages? It would take way too much time / effort on their part. They really don't care.

All they can really look at is the volume of traffic anyway, right?

Not pinpoint exact IP's and then compare them to the IP's connecting to individual accounts.

It wouldn't take much work at all or resources to be honest. They wouldn't need staff to look at anything, it could all be automated.

Referrer = Sythe.org > Flag any accounts with IP/Ban them for cheating > Done.

Obviously they wouldn't do this, because they could potentially ban a lot of innocent people. BUT, this isn't a crazy unheard of thing. It's the reason a lot of sites use anonymous referrer services to mask all outgoing links.

He is more so referring to when people post direct links to the official RS forum, etc. At least that is what I'm inferring from his post.

You've been reading up on Robotsindisguise, eh? There's never been any evidence of Jagex actually analyzing that information or acting upon it. Not to mention people wouldn't understand why we blocked runescape.com and it would result in more complaints/confusion. Right now we're going to adapt a "do it at your own risk" policy, but in all honestly any potential risk is meager.
