^ According to recent updates, all accounts that have been roll backed will be banned if I'm not mistaken. I'm thinking for customer safety we should suspend the sale of accounts that have been roll backed until we, as a community, see what actually does happen January 14th.

(If someone wants to help me out, post where they say roll backed accounts will be banned, I'm having trouble finding it but I know I've seen it several times...)

 

Anyone who buys a rolledback account should do so knowing full well that Jagex obviously is aware of the accounts botting history. IMO, anyone who buys one is stupid, but its a risk they are willing to take.

 

You can't say we haven't gone to some ridiculous lengths to protect security though...this seems minor. It's only four or so more days and I see more and more roll backed accounts being sold every day. All it would take is one announcement.

 

I don't think there hasn't been a confirmation from Jagex. Link to one from Runescape.com (not a screenshot- they're easily faked), and we'd be glad to make a market announcement. Otherwise, I believe they're adapting a more lenient attitude towards aspects of botting. They started with with 2 week bans and now rollbacks.

 

I have seen a Pmod center leak where was confirmed that.

It is and always will remain a risk.

A temporary sticky (Later to be merged with the section-rules or something) will do in my opinion.

 

If that quote is true, then there is still no 100% that the account will be banned.

People buying these accounts buy them at their own risk, just like the purchase of any other account.

 

I'm not sure Yarrow's post is true... maybe. I've had 2 or 3 accounts rolled back so far, but that might have been before they changed policy. My roll backs occurred within the first few weeks, when they were claiming it was a bug with the bot. However, I do agree that we don't need to ban the selling of jagrolled accounts, especially on hearsay. A sticky of warning is the most we should do to restrict these trades.

 

While personally I will restrain from purchasing these accounts, I also support a stick/announcement of warning regarding these trades.

 

I'd like to see it confirmed with a Runescape forum post or something before we go and scare everybody away from trading them. The only thing I've seen regarding bans recently is that they're planning a ceremonial mass ban when they re-release the wilderness--I've seen nothing regarding accounts which have been rolled back.

 

Please confirm this as i currently have a roll-back account i plan to use for staking. Any direct links?

 

i do agree that the buyer beware rule should be applied and if people want to buy a rolled back account, they should accept any and all consequences that go along with it. however i believe i also read an official runescape thread that said something that sounded like they would, in fact, ban rolled back accounts.

 

I recently got a rollback on a 99's, not banned.

 

If you would have actually read the thread, you would know that the banning (if any) would take place after the wild and free trade is reintroduced.

If you buy a rollbacked account, expect it to get banned.

 

Rollbacking is a punishment, and is meant to be as a warning, they dont intend on banning you afterwards unless you bot again.

All Threads that are about selling a rollbacked account should inform you of the rollback.

 

as karl just said, rollbacking is a punishment. I doubt they would ban these accounts.

 

If someone wants to buy a rollback account it is there personal decision to do so.

If someone wants to buy an account that has been botted at all, it is there personal decision to do so.

Any botted account could be banned. We don't suspend the sales of botted accounts.

We also don't suspend the sales of accounts that have been suicided 24/7, which some would argue have a significantly higher risk of being banned.

Therefore, there is no reason to suspend the sales of a rollback account AT THIS TIME.

 

Yeah It's true, they even mentioned in an Update that they were going to ban many macroers. In this case, they have kept a close eye on the reset accounts.
