As much as I dont mind people sharing accounts ( as long as the right thing is done)

The only reason I can see why people would want this to be allowed as they're doing it already x)

Adding exceptions to rules makes grey areas which are never fun. Just remove the rule but make it clear that you are still responsible for your own account.

Off-topic: You brought up a very good point. You all need to be banned, although it will never happen. Thats just the way things go. Admit to all the shit in the world to make a point and no one will ban you. :D

That is a good point, things are pretty muddled already. With the high pardon section, I'm sure this could be handled better.

And yeah, it's pretty funny the way the world works ^.^.

Like Deacon said earlier, as a non malicious joke for April fools. There really aren't many reasons to share your account, but if you do, why be banned for it?

I find it similar to sharing your PayPal account. On a website based on commerce, multiple people sharing the same account is not plausible, even if it is a joke.

Remember, first and foremost, this is a business website.

No, its not strictly a business website. Many people are on sythe for the sole purpose of the community.

You are creating a Sythe account with only yourself using it. Its not for just any of your friends or anyone else to use. If they want to browse here, then they need to create there own separate account.

It falls under account security risks and its not looked upon as favorable for a reason.

So just because your account could be at risk, you deserve a ban? If so, having viruses on your computer should get you banned as well.

Paypal has a very strict purpose... Sythe is NOT first and foremost a business website... Sythe is first and foremost a COMMUNITY. It was founded on cheating and macroing, not on trading and markets. The community effort is what keeps Sythe going, the willpower of its users and the socializing involved. The market would not stabilize Sythe alone.

A user is responsible for their own MSN. This has been a rule for quite a while now. Why shouldn't a user be responsible for their own Sythe account? Forbidding them from doing with their account as they please is not going to fix the problem. If their account is involved in a scam, they will be treated the same way as other scammers... paying everything back might result in a high pardon being granted, but it was their own fault for sharing the account login details.

Basically, all this rule is doing is imposing on personal choice. I'm not about to argue the moral implications, given that the accounts ARE property of Sythe.org, but I will say that there is no reason that an account should be jeopardized because of an owner choosing to allow another on it... given the other rules of Sythe that are in place... this one just does not fit.

It's the same thing as saying "If you don't request a PM, we're going to ignore any scam reports you make because it's your own fault. If you don't send a PM when starting a trade whether or not one was requested, we're going to ban you." It's ridiculous.

i also agree that account sharing should not be bannable (well, Finn has already clarified that it is not bannable on its own...)

    but imagine this scenario:

you and a friend share an account together. You are the one who is truly interested in both learning from and contributing to sythe. You are the one who does all the posting, trusworthy trades, etc. YOU make the SHARED acc trusted. Then your friend who is nowhere near as involved, decides he wants to make some quick cash, gets on, and realizes how easily he can scam on the SHARED acc that YOU built up to be the prestigious member of sythe it is/was.

although this scenario may seem unlikely, this is one of the possible circumstances i personally imagine are grounds for banning

Makes 100% sense to me. People up for promotion should not be sharing, otherwise leaking would be involved.

Do you think you could remove the rule, or at least change it?

That's more than fair. All the normal rules still apply, the OP is simply stating that if I want to let some random person use my account, that's my choice. Obviously if the user then scams, spams, leaks, etc (which are all against the rules), the appropriate action will be taken against their account.
