FT/W Is Coming Back 100%

Except he'd become known as a lier to his subscribers and would lose even further revenue that FT+W would have provided.

 

That post was from a player. A stupid one at that.

The reason for this is to increase the player base to earn them more money, the game isn't 'dying off' or going to be any time soon.

I believe it is coming back, but all of the botting and rwting (yes that means us), means that the atmosphere and economy of the game is not the fun that it used to be. Partially, I think it's because, imo, it's too damn hard to get 99s, but lots of players with 99s would take away the reward.
I think that because of this we are going to see frustrated legit players quitting, and what's the fun in playing a game where almost everyone is a bot? It's like being on your own empty private server; there's no competition, and it gets boring after a while.

 

I was saying the exact thing since the beginning. Plus they are sinking money in Stellerdawn...which is getting pushed back for 2 years now (after name change)

 

It's coming back, now that they have mentioned it / promised it they know they have to release the update.

 

This quote is kind of sad in my opinion. I would hate to see RuneScape die off.

If they dont bring it back after all these votes, Jagex will loose more players then they ever have, including me as I would have no intreast in paying for somthing that they have just... IDK Hard word to find

i agree with you 100%, i think this is a last ditch effort to milk some money for Runescape before they bring out the new game.

 

It's going to be a long time before the game is so devoid of players they will stop generating a profit form it. They'll probably compare the interest of Runescape to the interest of Stella Dawn and see if it's still worth funding.

 

Look at classic...they never killed it off, just stopped updating and got fewer servers for the minority that still wanted to play.

 

i really dont know why they think the game was better off by cutting off free trade and pking anyways....

 

I think Jagex realise this and will be pumping a lot of money on bot detection software, even if it means hiring outside specialists. They're earning a lot money than the botting sites and that's where they have the upper hand, the thing is most bots have the upper hand as it is Jagex's policy to only ban accounts if they are quote "assured beyond belief" that the person was botting, where in reality there is a lot of sketchy activity which Jagex cannot ban for.

I highly doubt Runescape is going to die anytime soon..

As others have said, Runescape is by no means "dying". As of this moment there are over 193,000 people logged into Runescape alone. Nearly 200,000 people on one game. To put that in perspective, "Call of Duty: Black Ops" has about 250,000 online. Call of Duty is the best selling game of 2010. Factor in that a huge number of the 200,000 players on Runescape are monthly subscribers, and you can see that Runescape is a CASH COW. It makes Jagex a ridiculous amount of money.

However, over the next 1-2 years Jagex will be shifting a lot of its attention to Stellar Dawn. The game's website can be found here: http://stellardawn.com/ There has been a tentative release date of "2011", but realistically I doubt we will see it before 2012. No beta has been announced yet, and very little marketing has gone into it as of yet. Once Stellar Dawn is released, Jagex should gradually phase Runescape out (ASSUMING Stellar Dawn is a SUCCESS). However, phasing a game like Runescape out is a long process. I imagine it will receive updates up until as far as 2015, because it should be profitable even with under 10,000 people playing.
