What Next? You decide.

Hi guys. We've implemented some pretty interesting changes over the past year or so. Some have been successful, and some considerably less so.

We've introduced:

- Personal Support
- High Pardons
- Diablo Discussion
- Aion Discussion (now removed)
- Homework Help
- Movies & TV Discussion
- Sport/Outdoor Discussion

I'd like to hear what you all think would benefit the site. In the case of forums, for example, don't suggest topically-obscured forums, as, for a forum to be worthwhile, it ought to attract wide attention and be accessible to all, such as the Personal Support forum.

Potential areas of consideration:

- New forum additions?
- New site systems (e.g. 2010's High Pardon system)?
- Changes to the staff structure?
- etc.

Public, active MSNs for all administrators, maybe sythe.org ones. Online a certain number of hours a week. Password resets don't happen and haven't happened for months. We're losing users.

 

I have no idea if this is financially or technically feasible, however I think some sort of chat system (like the IRC I guess?) that would be fool proof evidence for scam reports. This would avoid the issue of having 50% of the reports closed because "chat logs are not proof".

Off topic, thanks for taking suggestions from the community, shows alot of initiative on behalf of the admin team : )

 

A compiled database of known, caught and banned Sythe scammers with easy search features and such. Easy to make, hard to keep up to date.

 

Why don't we get PayPal donations?..

To be fair I dont think userbase will be a problem soon, and we're still #1.

I'd like to see the forum updated to 3.8 for, to be honest, the huge amount of modifications we'd have access to.

 

Although we're #1, that doesn't mean we don't have room to expand. I'm with Nick for public MSNs for administrators.

 

Depends on if additional details would be added to it. Like a link to the scam report and the thread in question... names of people involved... etc... If it goes too detailed, it'd be rather difficult. But a simple display would be nice, in the very least, that has the E-Mail displayed as well.

 

Ah yeah, given the userid you can run subsequent queries on the user table. However, it's not hard for scammers to make new MSNs/emails/whatever.

 

Possibly different ranks for mods? Such as...

Junior Mod(Mod being trained, also to know if their good enough)<Local Mod (Market Mod)<Global Mod<Admin

Possibly link U.E. and OMM's somehow?

I'm not sure, these are just suggestions...maybe an on site chat system? would make things 500x easier

 

Right, I had a system I was setting up that would have just needed user input, but it kinda worked like ripoffreport.com. Showing similar cases, or reports against the same email, from the same websites, etc. It was pretty nifty.

Only problem was filling the database.

 

Also, linking to scam reports wouldn't be possible without a fundamental change of the userban table, or a new table. Is it really worth changing the DB that much to 'prove' someone scammed? Can't you guys just take our word for it? :\

 

Giving all $50+ donors the ability to change their own usertitle.

 

Like others have said, we might be #1, but account recoveries are taking way too long. I, for one, had to wait around 2 months. Great idea, Nick.

 

It's not so much that, as it is to promote safe trading. You start a trade with someone, before you trade, you search them in the database, a few different details about them (the account name they used, the email, their ip if possible) and you get to play it safe yourself

 

Possibly bring back Team Leads?

Today, Staff positions for sectionals are all over the place to make up for the lack thereof. I think possibly bringing back Team Leads per section would help keep things more organized as before, but there tends to be a few flaws in the system too I suppose.

Back when I first became Staff, I felt it was a pretty good system, and things ran smoothly. If you were part of the section and wanted to change some things, you'd have to consult with your Team Leader before doing so, such like a supervisor at a job.

 

I probably am on my own here, but some other forum skins or themes would be a nice addition. I also agree with whoever posted regarding paypal donations, this would raise a lot of money and open doors to new features.
