"Verbal Warning" for work because of a post on FaceBook?

NOT SURE IF THIS IS THE RIGHT SECTION.

Okay story goes(this just happened today), My step-mom and I work at the same place(I work at the docks and she works at corporate), something I must explain before I go to the story. Me and her dislike eachother.
She stalks my FaceBook, looking for things to yell at me for(note I am 19 years old and I live on my own) Today she came across a post where I said the "N" word, with an "a" not an "er". She got mad and decided to have me file a Verbal Warning through work, and "punish" me, because she doesn't want the company at risk. Now, My FaceBook is 100% private, you can't view my posts, pictures, or information without being my friend, and I have NO ONE from my job as a friend(black or white).
Is she allowed to do this? I can understand if it directly offended her, but she's not black..

Anyone, if you can say it is or isn't, can you link me to a site with proof?

    NOTE: I AM NOT RACIST.

As long as the actions you commit outside of work have no immediate conflict at work this should not be a problem.

You've got to be really careful about what you put on Facebook nowadays. I know people who have been turned down places at University because they had pictures of themselves doing something illegal or being drunk on Facebook :/ To be honest I can't really see her getting anywhere with this. Just delete and block her on Facebook?

How does she has access to your facebook? That could actually be an invasion of privacy if you're not giving your consent for her to go through that.

unfortunately you do have to be careful what you put on facebook. there are all sorts of stories about people getting fired, in trouble, etc from posting stuff on facebook. I do believe it is incredibly unfair. so much for free speech, eh?

    I would block her.

That is why I don't have my mum added to my facebook.

You can get in trouble from what you post on facebook and ******* nowadays. However, if it didn't involve the workplace, then it shouldn't be a problem to be honest.

You shouldn't have to specify that you're not racist. Nigga, nigger, spic, chink, they're all just words. It really is a shame that people can get offended by vibrating air molecules.

And no, your mother had no right to do this. Unless you were bad mouthing the company, she can't do anything about it at work. That being said, just block her from your facebook and when she asks why, tell her it's because she is acting like a child watching an R rated movie for the first time and pointing out all the bad language.

So just block her. If you live in the US, She can't do anything about it as far as your job is concerned, because if she did, It is considered retaliation. as explained here http://www.eeoc.com/guidance/discrimination/discrimination-retaliation/

retaliation is like, you blocked her from your facebook so she went and fired you. If you took her to court on those terms, you'd have no problem.
that only applies to the US, but I'm sure some countries must have similar laws

She's my stepmom lol! I didn't think she would have a fit. She said theres a racial discrimination case in court right now or something, and she cant let me jepordize the company financially.
but i dont really understand, my privacy settings are at the most, no one can view my friends/pics/info/posts unless i accept you, and i have no one from work other than her.

Like stated above, why in the world do you have your step mom on Facebook?

If you read the post, he says his profile is 100% private.

You can change your privacy settings so that certain people ON your friends list can't see your statuses or posts.

Whole thought of it is that the way you act out of work is still reflection of the company you work for they don't won't racist ... worker is caught say ... on facebook. Just know anything on the internet isn't private in all reality a hacker can get access to those posts and pictures and if someone wanted to they could use it against your company. The likeliness of this happening is slim but why should the company take the risk,

Delete her from your account, and deny that it happened. Possibly remove the post altogether if you want to be 100% safe, then the verbal warning will have no grounds to be dealt on.

    This, or delete her.

I don't see why people add their parents or get added by them, it's creepy.
