Posted in another thread, but I think this guy really knows what he's talking about...

What do you think is going to happen to the prices of food after Free Trade? For example, do you think lobsters or sharks are going to go up or down? I thought that they would go up since there will be a huge rush for PKing and need for food, but now I see people saying they're gonna crash. Should I sell my stock before free trade?

I remember before I quit years ago that lobsters were 300 ea. I come back and they're 200 ea. :/

I have to disagree with this to a certain extent. I think that Jagex has some sort of plan to at least prevent the level 3 throwaway botters which ran rampant in pre-2007. These botters really cheapened the game for a lot of players, and created a lot of negative feedback. I believe there is something in store to at least prevent new accounts from trading freely. To say there will be 0 regulation on RS would be very short-sighted.

However, I also believe the days of mass RWT bans for legitimate customers are behind us. These are real players, with hard-earned money, who are so dedicated to the game that they go out and spend extra money on it. To actually BAN your most loyal customers from using your product is not the answer. They originally hoped it would deter buyers and therefore deter sellers, but it never worked. It just left a ton of their most loyal fans alienated and upset.

All that I will say is that every single gold seller is licking his lips because their profits are going to sky rocket. But wont more people move into the gold selling market and cause prices to drop?

You do know that the game has change dramatically since BEFORE the trade limit came out? Highly profitable bots have been made and numerous user use them and money is much simpler to attain nowadays. Back before RS was somewhat a challenge.

    R2, I've got a question I was originally going to post a thread about, but thought it to be less annoying by posting here;

What do you predict the prices of raw materials will do? I'm sure things such as lobsters will rise, as will rocktails, swordfish, etc. But I mean things not related to what is being released; More specifically yew logs. But also things like adamant ores, coal ores, flax, willow logs, hides, etc. I'd really appreciate your input on this, because at the moment I have about 20k yews sitting in my bank and I'm not sure whether or not I should wait until free trade to sell them...

Materials should not be majorly affected. They may see a small decline in price; yews for example seem a bit high.

Remember, no gold is created by people selling it. Party Hats right now are quite high priced already, a Blue Phat costs about $500 + 650M. That's getting close to 1 bil. I doubt we'll see them go any higher than 1 Bil each for awhile, they will likely settle well under that.

They've already started going down... So I supposed it'd be a good idea to sell them now, correct?
Do you think prices will go to about the same as they were before? Because for some items I see them going back to the old 07' prices... Which is surprising, considering there is a lot more gold than back then...

I failed to understand that .. after free trade comes out hats will either be sold for pure $ and given for free through trade, making the $ price go up, or for pure rsgp. For example, either 600$ for a white, or 1b RSGP for a white, wouldnt it?

Like all Goldfarming sites are boting not many of them are getting them in other ways, plus when free trade will come out noone will sell them accounts with GP, boting will be destroyed, GP will raise raise and raise and raise and raise and raise and then raise again.

Easer to move means that more the demand increases with the supply staying the same which will move price up.

I don't know what you are talking about but Pleasent was keeping up with the gold farming prior to limited trade. I remember prices were anywhere from '04 to 15.00 a mil to $7 a mil in '07. He is doing 1.8 a mil right now and prices on g/e are incredibly low. I predict that gp will go to $4 a mil and expensive g/e items will raise back to the 30%+ that most items have lost then will increase from there. Now seems like the time to buy.

A lot of gp will be lost when free trade comes as well.
Like you said, the 100k earth talismans will be worthless.

That will be 36.7mil in the game, gone.

    Gp will be lost.
    More will be traded.
    Prices will up.

tbh I can see a lot more sellers entering the market, not just because of free trade, but because of the ability to make huge amounts of money very quickly through staking.

Also, the whole issue of labour costs for gp transferring will drop the prices. I really don't think the current raised price for labour is on the buyers behalf - most people simply don't give a shit if they get their gold in 1 hour or 24.
