Im Not Emo!!!!

OH my god ok so Its time for some nerd rage, kiddies. I know I said I was quitting but I wanted to get on and chat with some friends. But this has been happening ALOT lately and it is PISSING ME OFF! Ok heres how I basically am:

-I have (dyed it a few weeks ago) DAARRK brown hair.
-I listen to Screamo/Metal/Acoustic/Rock/Hard Rock/Scream-Punk etc etc etc..
-I own at least one tshirt of all my favourite bands.
-I wear eyeliner thats really thick.
-I am the bubbliest and most positive (yet violent and destructive) person you'll ever meet.
-I <3 gummy bears.

^^^^ I recently wondered why I was being called EMO. So whatd I do? Googled this wonderful thing: How to be emo. Now, dont get me wrong. I think alot of those guys are freaking sexy :]. But I realized that I fit ALOT of the description. But heres the thing. IM NOT EMO! OR SCENE! OR WHATEVER! I am me. Kylie. And I am sick and TIRED of people calling me emo. -.- If this happens to you, please, comment and tell me your story. Itd be interesting :\

Almost 16. Gohan your kinda older so thats probably a child to you. But Im not a kid. And they matter so much because what if you were mexican and someone called you a spick. Black, nigger. Asian, Ricepicker. Its just a very offensive thing to me and its ticking me off :\

 

I get called emo every once and a while.

I have long black hair, and listen to metal / classical / techno.

I kind of rub it off, as I don't care, and have friends who don't call me "emo."

 

If you dressed in a black leather outfit with a bandanna over your head, rode a motorcycle and had a ragged, tough appearance would you not expect to be called a biker?

You're dressing exactly how you DON'T want to be noticed as. Not saying the kids are in the right position to judge you but you're pretty much putting this on yourself. If you REALLY want to dress like that, you wont care what they think.

Is probably a big reason people think you're scene. Scene kids are often associated with those type of awkward, random phrases for whatever reason.

 

I dress like that because I really want to. I started when I was like 11. I didnt even know what Emo WAS until a little bit ago. -.- And it bothers me so much because it isnt true and I DONT lie. Ever. I used to lie alot and it bit me in the ass so I gave up. So Im sick of it. People are starting rumors, saying I cut myself and crap. Eventually the principal got called and now my mom thinks I worship SATAN. W.T.F.

anyways if its bugging you that much just dress differently thats the only way people would stop calling you emo unless you confront them about it.

 

You obviously noticed the scene generation as you were growing up and want to be like them.

Honestly, there's nothing anybody can do to make people think differently of you other than you, or the people themselves. And reading some other threads it's safe to say you're a freshman, people wont be maturing for another year or two.

You need to stop putting wood on the fire and make it obvious you're not a satanic emo kid because to the older crowd you're text-book for being 'evil'.

 

Ugh I know and Im not changing because they want me to. Im not scene. Im not emo. I really just wondered what the FUCK hot topic was one day and went in, listened to the music, reeeaalllyyy liked it, and bought some CD's. That led to me wanting a shirt with my fave bands. Got em. The hair is just hair. I dont know what the fuck is so special. Hair doesnt make you emo/scene?

And I know people wont mature. I didnt say this to get yelled at. :\ (lol). Like I said, I just wanted to vent or whatever. Im just pissed.

 

I'm not sure you even understand what scene kids are..

Scene is just a fashion statement you could say.. heavy eyeliner, band shirts, wears leggings very often, stupid belts, bags and other unnecessary accessories that they wear incorrectly. It's the new age of 'hardcore' kids.

You quite possibly fit every single category.

 

The best advice is to just ignore them.
How do these people call you an EMO? Do they say it meaning to be offensive or are they just referring to you as an EMO?

 

I dont understand scene/emo because i dont give a fuck about it. Its shit. Cutting yourself to stop the pain...? Dumbass. -.- Anyways, it depends who it is. Im referred to as "Kylie, that emo chick", and when I walk down the halls I get: "Dumb ass emo!"

What the fuck is up with that.

 

To stop it all you only need to change your appearance, unfortunately that's how kids are these days, they have nothing better to do than stereotype and pick on people. I am guessing your still in school?

If people just randomly call you a dumb ass EMO (my iPod automatically puts it in caps by the way) then say something back. A good one is "do you fancy me?" they will be like eh? Then say you only say it to me and nobody else so you obviously must fancy me, but you're ugly so yeh..

That will shut them up.

Buy I'd say change appearance lol, there is no need to go to school/college/work with a tone of make up on and what not.

 

Just because you are you, doesn't mean you don't fit into a category. Everyone is placed into a certain type of person, as no one is completely unique, we are all similar in some ways. If you fit most of the emo characteristics, you will be classified as an emo. If you don't want to be emo, don't do what they do.

 

Scene doesnt mean emo. And you are whoever you want to be. If you say your not emo, then your not.

The terms emo/scene are just "words" to categorize people. HOWEVER some people actually like it. So just let the words bounce of you and walk away chin high.

 

You have the "scene/emo" look, you may not be it, but that's how people look at you as. Just shrug it off and don't care about the shit people say. They'll stop eventually.

 

Well only like 1 person has been helpful haha But oh well. And no im not changing my look. I can go to school with a bunch of makeup because 1: It makes me feel pretty (lmao jking) and 2: It makes my eyes pop. like...POP. 0.0 :] haha well yeah. so like..no one else has gone through this.? -.-
