i doubt the prices will drop that low, just because the fact is, back before trade limit, 100m was alot of cash, now we class 100m as nothing.
70 years ago, $100 was alot of money, now $100 is practically nothing. so you have to remember over the years alot more GP has entered the game, there for prices of items go up.
not just that, most of the phats/rares will go into stakes now, like they used to. 90% of rare holders were stakers. its sorta like real life,

prices will drop at first due to panic but I believe alot of people like me will just hoard rares once free trade is released i plan on buying at least a few phats

lol I still think you guys will be proven wrong all the uber rich people are gana buy the shit of rares because its common knowledge rares will ALWAYS rise in the end even if the prices due get that low I bet you that they will eventually get even higher than the current ge prices

 

Everything is going to crash, here's my reason:

There is a constant cycle in the economy of gold-creation and gold-destruction. Usually there is more gold-creation occurring, and so the gold supply tends to increase on net.

If the gold supply is increasing faster than goods are produced, there tends to be inflation (too much money chasing too few goods). For example, PvP introducing new expensive items into the economy.

But sometimes the opposite is true, and that is deflation. If gold-destruction outpaces gold-creation, there can be a fall in the money supply. How is gold destroyed?

The removal of the PvP system and the introduction of the old wildy. Now that there isn't going to be anything new introduced to the economy, there will be less money to be made and usually that means cheaper prices.

Sure less money will be made, so that means the circulation of highly priced items will be harder to obtain, making them rise in demand?

Sure with items under 100m, they will lower in price, but my opinion with phats/divine I think they will find a comfortable medium between their estimated "street price" right now and the grand exchange price

example, white is 560m g/e and street its, well i don't know, 1.6b? i'd say all in all it'd even out to around 1b.

That's the basic simple procedure of how it works with free trade =) no manipulation/bull shit







Edit: I'm really curious about everyone elses thoughts on what people will be able to get for straight RSGP for items such as Partyhats/Divine, Since I'm going to either have one or the other (or none) before free trade comes out.

I don't want to get a partyhat, and then have it go down in RSGP value, ya know?

 

You also have to take into consideration how many people don't know about the prices in 07. I think a lot of people will be relying on the prices that will be in the GE after free trade. New prices are going to be made and rares are always going to rise because there's only a limited amount of them. You're never going to have more, the current number is always going to be that and less, never more.

Which is why I'm going to be stocking up on rares.

Thats what I was thinking about lol. You also had to go to various rs help sites to check the current price of items to make sure you weren't getting screwed. I hated that shit.

Doubt it. More and more are slowly seeping into the game and since the value of coins will probably go up I would guess it will go to 400-500m at the update and then slowly fall.

 

Is there any chance items will start to rise again before the update? Or is it best just to dump my bandos, claws, etc. asap?

 

What do you think is going to happen to the prices of food after Free Trade? For example, do you think lobsters or sharks are going to go up or down? I thought that they would go up since there will be a huge rush for PKing and need for food, but now I see people saying they're gonna crash. Should I sell my stock before free trade?

I remember before I quit years ago that lobsters were 300 ea. I come back and they're 200 ea. :/

 

Sell your food when old wildy comes out(higher demand).

 

I don't understand why people think most rares will go down, I believe if anything they will go up. However i don't have much experience in merching. I would just like more info if anyone has any insight.
