First let me say im a person who likes to toke up multiple times a day, but u make potheads seem stupid cuze ur reasons are flawed
    • first off, marijuana's affects have lead to many deaths, because of the mind altering affects
    • after being in rehab for months, i learned that marijuana DOES INDEAD AFFECT UR BRAIN. it triggers ur what-chya-ma-call-its that make u happy, and it increases it. eventualy it makes it to where they are no longer produced and thus makes it to where u need to smoke weed to get pleasure (i forgot the name of the stuff that makes u happy)
    • ur right there
    • there is way more then $4billion floating around, hell ther is aprox $15billion just in california alone from marijuana
    • the schedule is fucked up, it says marijuana is more dangerous then cocaine because if u look, marijuana is a class 1 subtance and yet cocaine is a class 2
and again let me say, i smoke weed and im a advocate for the legalization of marijuana. I have been through rehab and have learned the effects and what not, but im just helping u strengthen ur arguement (even tho ur curently banned :p)

You mean seratonin? To be honest bud I think they successfully brainwashed you. Gave you some nice fancy explenations with flawed scientific facts. They did the same to you that they do to everybody in 9th grade health class. THC does not affect seratonin at all.

MDMA however is a drug that greatly affects your seratonin, more then any other drug. That is what you should be worried about doing too much of.

I have done both drugs before you ask.

You beat me to it. 100% correct. Those who have done MDMA know how depressed it can make them feel the next day, which is because MDMA greatly decreases your seratonin level and it takes time for your body to recover and for seratonin to be produced. MDMA is know as being an every week or 2 occasion because of this. None of this is relevant in any of the effects of Marijuana

Also the idea of anyone having to go into rehab for weed just cracks me up. I've smoked numerous times a day for several years now and after a few months it comes to the point where I sort of stop getting high. When that happens, I just stop smoking and then start back up again in a couple weeks. I think that's enough proof to tell that marijuana is in no way PHYSICALLY addictive which means that rehab would never be necessary.

Agreed. Aside from that, ecstacy is primarily harmful because of all the other drugs put into it. Pure MDMA has very similar effects as caffeine on your body (increased hard rate, shorter breaths), except that seratonin is released. This is very bad for hormones in your brain. Ecstacy becomes harmful when you take it multiple days in a row, because it keeps trying to release seratonin that isn't there. It's true that ecstacy does create happiness, times 1,000,000. When you get happy all thats happening is that seratonin is being released in combination with dopamine ect...

Don't mean to hijack the thread but ex is an awesome drug and I space my rolls out atleast a month, just wanted to share briefly what I have in-depthly researched.

Weed is not a drug. People who take drugs get fucked up and then say "DAM THATS A FREAKIN AWESOME DRUG". People who smoke and take drugs can clearly see the difference and know that weed is not a drug. There are an infinite number of OTC drugs that are 1,000,000 more harmful then THC, weeds primary ingredient. I dont know why haters hate on this harmless herb.... maybe someday i'll understand

Sorry to say but either you've been brainwashed or you haven't looked into weed facts yourself. Don't look on bias sites or ask people who are bias. Although that is hard to find, it is possible and you'll see weed is harmless.

Spacing out your rolls doesn't mean its safer. You're simply slowing down the effects but they're still there. In comparison to most E heads, you are doing it "safer" in a way but you will still experience its effects. Its been shown that those who do E; including those who do it a few times a year or in certain events, will show long term effects still. So really there's no smart way to do E.

I have personally done E various time and stopped a few months ago, FYI. I know how it feels and know the effects. I've looked into it more and saw the facts and saw it was true.

@gtdarkpunisher Let's make it easier for him eh?

    1. There are no deaths directly correlated to the use of marijuana. There have been reports of people driving high and becoming severely injured or dead, it's the same for any other drug out there as well. There is a completely different law behind your first argument, do you realize the United States has laws preventing people from using drugs, being out in public while under the influence of a drug, or driving under the influence of drugs? The legalization or decriminalization of marijuana will not change the fact you can't drive under the influence or be out in public [making a fool of yourself]. (Disorderly Conduct ; DUI)

    2. Nice and simple. I really love chocolate, I eat it every day. I enjoy it... every day. For a good few years... I stop, now it's harder to become as happy as I was when I did eat chocolate. But YOU'RE BODY NEVER STOPS PRODUCING SEROTONIN; so eventually it'll all become back to normal. Just take t-breaks if you're paranoid about 'affecting your serotonin levels', anyways if you take a long one, the next time you toke; it'll feel like your first time again :D

    3. Marijuana is a cash crop, and while I can't say any of the number said in this thread may be true... it will boost economy... most likely not enough to make a huge difference.

    Random tidbit of information:
The United States has Marijuana listed as a Schedule I drug (a drug without any legitimate medical purpose); yet they own a patent on using it as "antioxidants and neuroprotectants." (http://www.patentstorm.us/patents/6630507.html)

My big argument against legalizing marijuana is not that it has bad affects but why do we need medical marijuana if you can just take THC pills (have been legal for a long time) that offer the same helpful medical effect without some of the other dangerous ingredients? Answer me that question and you'll have me convinced

From what I read on your post, its those who are still developing that are affected.

As to the relation to sexual assualt, its simply stating its one of the four popular drugs detected. It doesn't say if it was by itself, so you can't really say its related to sexual assault as many drug addicts do multiple drugs. As to "attributes the effects of cannabis abuse to schizophrenia" you didn't state that that article is talking about those who already lost touch with reality in some way.

I'd suggest you look at how they word those article you linked.

As for affecting judgment, the obvious may be driving as most would think but that's not the case for most cannabis users. Take note that the studies that provided 46% did experience driving impairment may have been on a mix of those who have continuously used cannabis and those who probably just started.

As for the THC pills, its just that we choose to smoke cannabis and prefer it.

As some prefer smoking tobacco over chewing it. (Not exactly a good comparison but you get the idea.)

I did not say it doesn't affect your health, I did not say it doesn't affect your brain, or judgment for that matter (I even admitted that it does impair judgment); and well (pardon my french) damn near everything increases my chance of death, marijuana included.

And while I just looked at the post, as well as all the sources you've used. I can't say I've ever seen the study about marijuana affecting ATPase, it's a useful information to know myself (even though my new preferred method of consuming marijuana is vaporizing which may or may not eliminate some, if not most of those 200 some mystery chemicals within marijuana).

There a few things I'd like to say though:

As you had stated that: "THC was the #1 drug found in violent murder convicts' bloodstreams upon arrest."

Crime and illegal drugs tend to find themselves in the same category due to gangs and other criminals, it's easy to see why THC is found quite occasionally in murder convicts. Marijuana is one of the easier drugs for people to produce, sell, and obtain/ use since it can be grown, bought for cheap and is widely used by many people. Many of the times this wide percentage of people who use marijuana include criminals or gangsters. While I do not have a perfect article or source that shows the relationship, there is a whole time period (as you may already know) that affirms that illegalizing a drug similarly obtainable and and as widely used as cannabis simply leads to more violence due to gangs, etc. Let's recall the United States' alcohol prohibition laws. During that time period, there was a rise in crimes (including murder), and a rise in alcohol consumption. The gangs during that time period (who were in fact, complete bad asses; may I recommend checking out the show Boardwalk Empire on HBO) would also tend to be large alcohol consumers themselves...

It's the correlation between gangs, murderers, etc. and drug use that makes it seem that marijuana is the cause behind these murders

Putting that aside, for other people looking at his argument:

Marijuana does not have a chemical within it that makes you murder people, that is unless you believe everything you've seen in, 'Reefer Madness,' which means you are about 70 years and a few other different governmental brainwashes behind. :3

Lastly, on the note of addiction.

It is quite obvious that you can become addicted to marijuana psychologically, but I'm afraid that fapping and video game addiction is more of an issue for myself. During my high school career I contradicted fairly much everything you've said. I did use it regularly to escape usually from a migraine or frequent (what I called) eye-graines but I can barely ever say I used it to 'distance myself' from the older generation as much I used it for personal help or for fun. I showed my rebellious self in other ways. :3 High schoolers aren't all the same, besides, legalization of marijuana isn't going to make it any more available than it already is to your average 16 year old, nor will it be legal for them.

There are still other methods of consuming marijuana including (my new favorite) vaporization. I can't exactly explain it all to you here, but vaporization is a method in which only the THC is burned within the bud... without combusting the rest of the chemicals within the bud (including the CBD's etc., eliminating couch-lock as does THC pills). I'm fairly sure certain treatments don't just call for the heady-high you get just from THC, but also the CBD's in marijuana, which you can achieve from smoking it.

THC is not the only chemical people want in marijuana.

    And from a recreational standpoint:

Taking out the bong, tokin' it, and passing it around with friends pretty much all getting high within 5 minutes is a helluva lot more fun than giving everyone a pill and waiting an hour or so for it to kick in.

If I made any mistakes in the post I apologize.

Ohh believe me I understand that taking THC isn't as fun as smoking but thats exactly my point.Marijuana is currently being legalized as a medical drug and quite honestly I think it's BS. THC contains the medical part of the marijuana and the rest of it is mostly harmfull substances. Don't get me wrong I'm all for completely legalizing marijuana because if people want it they can get it already, in my opinion this is a way to tax the citizens even more. Regardless of all this do you know of any other ingrediants in marijuana other than THC that benefit us in a way another drug can't?

I'd also like to say that some medical patients do enjoy the instant gratification they get from smoking pot as opposed to the waiting time from THC pills to kick in and give them what they want.

    Onto THC Pills:

THC pills are synthetic, they're unreal... not grown from the earth. When the word synthetic comes into play I usually don't want to get into it. I can, though, explain some benefits (NORML has a whole article on this, you can find it here: http://norml.org/index.cfm?Group_ID=6635#lacks.

Simply put, THC is only one of the many cannibinoids found within marijuana. Marinol/ Dronabidol (THC pills) only offer one, being THC.

Another important cannabinoid that I had mentioned in my previous post is CBD. CBD is Cannibidol, it is one of the naturally occuring cannabinoids within marijuana, it's non-psychoactive (meaning it does not produce a high) and has, "analgesic, antispasmodic, anxiolytic, antipsychotic, antinausea, and anti-rheumatoid arthritic properties."

There are far more too, again I recommend on checking the link I posted above, since it gives plenty of information about THC pills vs. natural bud.

You may also want to look at the study of glaucoma and THC/ CBD's. There is even an article (I can't remember where, you should look for it yourself) that had said THC pills need to be taken in high doses even to have the same effect for glaucoma patients that marijuana does. Marijuana (that includes CBD's etc.) doesn't really require much of anything to achieve the necessary effects to help treat glaucoma patients.

Then again, marijuana isn't going to be legalized simply for a new type of health benefit not already readily available. People want safer, and different alternatives for current medicines and treatments out right now. I'd rather smoke an L than ever take oxy or percs again for pain-killing (or recreational for that matter) purposes. Let's also note the prices of these things :D

    Anything else? :]

I suggest watching "The union very educational movie on marijuana" and i also suggest watching "The run from the cure the rick simpson story" after you watch both of them and still think cannabis should be illigal then you just plain ignorant. It all comes down the politics and money. Criminals dont want pot illigal because it gives them revenue. Pharmicutical comanys don't want it legal because it will take away most of there buisness and the reason they wont pick it up is because ell its a plant and u cant patent it. Tabbaco companys will lose so much money aswell as alcohol companys. marijuana(Canabis has been illigal since 1937 aprox 74 years. It was based on fear/racisam and propoganda). People still fear pot. People don't know much about it, Because they don't want people to know the truth. Canabis has been legal for 5000 year before used for textiles/rope/paper. It can be used to make a new form of "gass" The paper made out of "INUSTRIAL" Hemp lasts longer then anything else i mean the american decluration of independance was made out of hemp. The first marijuana law was in i think 1600ish i think i don't know the date off the top of my head. The law was to GROW HEMP. Its been apart of out culture for 5000 years. It has so many benifits and its illigal it just does not make any sence. Please watch the moive i listed in the begining of this post.

I disagree with your second point.
Marijuana can cause irreparable damage to the part of the brain where memories are formed, which makes it harder for the user to recall short/long term events.
Also, it does impair judgement. So even though nobody has died due to marijuana use, when used while operating machinery for instance, you are unable to focus 100% on the job at hand, and many people have been hurt/disrupted due to that. For instance, last year in Australia an airline was shut down for 1 day and 10's of thousands of people were held up because a stoned technician deleted a crucial file that involved checking in.

Also, marijuana is quite addictive and people suffer from horrible withdrawals when coming off it. Imagine that you have been a smoker for 5 years, and you relied on a bong every night to get to sleep. What happens when your only sleeping aid has been taken away from you? You cannot sleep, you cannot function, and it will take a long time for your body to regain is natural sleeping patterns. Now, most smokers won't wait that long, so they end up smoking again at night, and it repeats itself over and over.

Prove your first point about memory absence. Its only short term and will remain as long as your smoking in some cases. Most smokers get used to weeds and can still remember because constant use.

Second point is useless. Its the users responsibility not to do such things. Not the weeds fault. If someone operates machinery and get injured in an accident...then they deserve it for stupidity.

Your last point doesnt prove nothing. Many people with insomnia use weed as a remedy to sleep. Taking it away will most likely bring back irregular sleep patterns since it was already there but was temporarily aided by cannabis.

this is absolutely ridiculous, I love how pot heads think there's nothing wrong with their drugs, bunch of ignorant 14 year olds IMO.
Your first point that you have written is even flawed "There are 0 reports to date of any deaths by direct use of marijuana"
yet there are tens of thousands of deaths from driving under the influence of it.

God i love how uneducated people are

This is what I had said earlier. Also, not a direct result from choosing to use marijuana. Choosing to DRIVE WHILE on high on marijuana is more of the fault.

How about you learn to read before you go around calling everyone "ignorant 14 year olds," because at the moment you're the only one that seems like one.
