Ability for thread starter.

I feel that allowing thread creators the option of shutting off post count in the initial process of making the thread would improve the community in the following ways:

Number 1 This would slow down spammers, because spammers are posting to raise their post count, if they dont gain postcount why would they post?

Number 2 This would make things easier on our mods, they would have less work to do in the Report a Spammer section. I don't know much about bandwidth, but wouldn't less thread help reserve bandwidth?

Number 3This could possibly turn into a profit for Sythe, you could make the option a donator perk, encouraging users to donate.

Edit: re read it and I understand now but why would you make a thread and want no one to post on it?

 

It wouldn't count as staff powers as staff don't have that power to turn off post count.

Very interesting idea. At first I was like gay idea, tbh. Then thinking about it I realised it sort of make sense. So, yes. I support this.

 

Or does he mean have posts not count towards the post count?

Oh if this is the case no support, the staff have chosen section witch do not give you post count the rest should remain the way they are. You can just report spam.

 

Eh, and I haven't been around much... but do spammers really spam to raise post count? I'd think it'd be more of a trying to be annoying approach.

 

some do, some just post things to be jerks but i think you can just report the post and the mods will get to it

It would be kinda useless, because i dont think many users would apply to their thread.
Sometimes people post decent content, and that deserves a +1 ( if pc its important for you )

 

Seems like a good idea however wouldn't people find elsewhere to spam?
which might bring back the same problem except it might just be certain cluttered sub-forums.

 

I like the current system just fine, myself. Spammers spam and they get infracted. They continue to spam and they get temp banned. From there they either have the choice to A.) not return B.) return and not spam or C.) Return, spam, and get temp banned again. The process works wonders because over time, the spammer is more likely to select either A or B due to the inconvenience.
