I think that with the large amount of bots, GP will be somewhere around what it is now, if not lower for an extremely long time. I do not see it reaching $2/M with the numerous additions JaGex has made for players to make money. Numerous players have 99 combat stats to go to GWD and Corp.

From what I read, you're saying junk replaced money, when in fact, junk was only a filler for gaps. Junk never held any real value, just a large amount of items to balance a trade. With the addition of junk, the economy became a bartering one. For when street price was not accessible, they decided on what items they'd like to "represent" the wished amount of money.

With the drop in prices of the items, in the beginning, gold will not have high demand because the prices of items are so low, items needed can be obtained without buying large sums of money. Now, only main GP sellers dominate the GP market right now/past. With free trade opening up, anyone who is anyone will be trying to sell gold. And I do see that continuing.

Ask if I need to clarify anything, I do confuse things;)

But what about merching, will that effect gold prices?

Back in the day I used to merch, I could make a hell of a lot of money by buying low and selling high. Gold will be easier to obtain in-game, so wont gold sellers have to sell cheaper in order to get us to buy?

Ge will not be removed, but you will choose the amount you want to pay for an item, it will be like an auction.

And Bots will be destroyed, do not expect to gain easy gold.

    Here's how I'm thinking -

    1. Items, over the years have become less valuable (other than rares) because of the amount of people that now have the stats to gain these items. PVP and deaths counter-acted this, and increased the demand. Gold on the other hand, is measure by what/quantity of the items you can buy with it ( and how easily it is obtained)

    2. With the new update, there is going to be a massive need for gold (as items will be lost and prices for items will become unstable) and the market will become flooded with items. After the initial flood, price/per will be established and people will get a general idea of where items stand. The initial flood of items will be bought up (depending on their value)

Stats reseting was only a start, Jagex understood a whole system of bot technology and will be able to provide very quick bans even if you did not get reported :)

I feel the mass ban of botters would be terrible for business, as bad as they hate to admit it, whether they can detect them or not they won't start mass bans again. The era of rollbacks marked the stage of Jagex in which they couldn't afford to rid the rs world of all the paying botting accounts, all they can do is take back the xp you botted in hopes that will deter you from doing it again, and hopefully will satisfy the legit players by assuring botted accounts arent getting ahead of them using bots, xp wise anyways.

    Here's my opinion:

The influx of old players back on RS will initially bump the prices of GP up. As it has been said before, staking can be quite an addiction. The higher rollers who stake 10's and 100's of mils will want GP as soon as they come back. Hence the initial rise in price. I'd go as far to say 2.50-3/m could become the norm for 3-4 months.

The price will then return to normal, and may possibly go lower than it is now for two reasons.

    1) Once the old schoolers have got back on their feet, GP won't be AS much in demand.

    2) Botters will have caught onto the profit that can be made selling GP whilst the prices were rising. This will create a large amount of mule accounts that will be selling GP (which is already happening) undercutting the regular sellers to make some fast cash.

I think point 2 will become the normal state of affairs 3-4 months after the update.

This is a good and bad thing for the community. The community will no doubt grow after the update and probably is growing now (faster than say 2 months ago). There will be more sellers driving the price down, which is good. But I also think there could be more people in the community that are out to scam.

This is all just based on my opinion. There have been some good points made in this thread and it shall be interesting to see what happens in the next few months.

Do not comment if you do not know, Jagex stated that with the new updates - a new wave of a mass ban will start and there will be more mass bans.
If Jagex is going to bring it back - they are super ready to take down botters.

I don't think Jagex brought back the wilderness and free trade because they think they can stop all the bots and xferring. The original reason for the abrupt removal of the now returning aspects of the game was due to IRL lawsuit issues, and at the time the only way they knew how to stop RWT completely is implementation of the trade limit system and removal of any ways to kill other players for money.

I think that the reason for its return is not some new hi-tech bot catching software, nor is it some master plan to inhibit RWT and botting, its most likely just a change in IRL issues. They have managed to find ways to avoid lawsuits for RWT and botting happening in their game, therefore they can take back the drastic measures they originally had to take.

Yes, I agree they still care about botting and RWT, but its a part of EVERY MMO, I don't think Jagex would consider themselves superior to all other MMO's in there bot-preventing and RWT-preventing skills and technology.

Not trying to argue, I quite enjoy debates such as this, but please do not tell me to "not comment on what I don't know" because I don't believe you are employed by Jagex either, so all of your contributions to this conversation are speculation, just as the rest of us, but thank you for the intelligent debate, It's quite fun. =)

Ok, so apparently I was wrong when I said this was an intelligent conversation, coming back with "im right your wrong" is a little disappointing tbh, I would think you would do better, at least try and show some proof that Jagex said they would issue a mass ban, and please don't post that edited "JUST THE FACTS" post that is supposedly from the mod forums, many PMods have already confirmed that that's not what was posted.

Probably one of the most ignorant kids I've seen on this forum. You couldn't be more incredibly wrong.

Do you not realize, that most of the botters are p2p? Do you understand what that means? Membership. Jagex makes money from botters, as well as legit players. How many legit players do you think craft nature runes 24/7? Not many. Bots are constantly doing it. Remove bots, prices go up, etc.

They said the same thing before when they had a "mass ban". It's all a bunch of bullshit to keep the legit players, LIKE YOU, from crying it up on the forums.

rofllflflfl jagex doesn't have "superior bot catching technology", more like a human eye that can notice if you click the same spot, over and over again, with precision.

Stop complaining just because you can't accept botting.

Wrong as well. You do remember what GP prices were BEFORE the trade limit came out? 2-4 dollars a mill.
