Range Max Question

How come my max hit with a rune xbow is so much higher than with a magic longbow sighted even though the bonuses say otherwise?

 

I didn't think the sight increased range damage?

and also, the damage is also determined by the bolts shot, and dragon bolts especially dragon bolts (e) have a higher range damage boost than rune arrows.

 

What bolts your using?

And can anyone recommend good armour/weapon setups that include power and defence including armadyl and void.

range attack works just like attack for meleers, it increase the likelihood to hit higher but the max hit is determined by your range STRENGTH just as melee strength works.

So the higher your range strength is the higher you will hit with the same gear, and the higher your range attack is the more chances you will have to hit near the top of your max hit guage. Increasing either will make you do more damage per second on average and get you more xp/hr on average, but only range strength will make individual hits have a higher possible damage amount.

Which would you rather use:

full void with rune crossbow + dfs
or...
armadyl top + bottom with rune crossbow + dfs
or any other setups you would use?

 

Depends what you're doing.

For damage output use void, for taking damage/surviving use armadyl.

I'd range tank with a BSS, no negative bonuses, and cheaper

 

But I hate quests haha...
