Phenibut - A legal answer to social anxiety, insomnia, etc.

Phenibut is a derivative of GABA, a neurotransmitter involved in the action of benzodiazepines such as xanax, rohypnol, etc.

It was first used in Russia (go figure), but, from personal and reported experiences this substance can effect mood, sleep patterns, and higher brain function.

In other words, this is a nootropic of sorts. I have recently started a regimen of phenibut myself, and it has helped me combat insomnia and social anxiety better than any benzo has.

A single dose of phenibut is 300mg (though not approved by the USFDA), and produces psychoactive effects through GABA beta agonism. It can help with alcohol, benzo, and nonbenzo withdrawal.

Phenibut should be used responsibly, as GABA agonism can result in withdrawal symptoms, though cycling tolerance and withdrawal can be avoided.

Just a tip to those who don't have access to "illegal" means of anti anxiety.

This sounds like something I could benefit from. I have pretty bad insomnia since I've stopped self medicating with marijuana and xanax. If this could help my sleeping and anxiety, I will be very happy.

I've heard of people using this stuff and having success, but I tried it for a little while and didn't notice anything. Of course I like benzos too much to give them up anyways.

This actually is a supplement found on bodybuilding.com :p
It isn't as in your face as a benzo, and it takes a while to kick in, but it does help with anxiety and insomnia like no other when used responsibly.

You too. Of course I read it as oxycontin at first, but a cool name either way. :p

I know you can get GABA supplements at your local GNC, Vitamin Shop, etc.

The thing about GABA supplements is they don't cross the blood-brain barrier, phenibut is the phenyl substitute of GABA that readily crosses.
