When you buy a certain prepaid sim card in UK, you need to active it at first, you need to send a certain text message,to top it up or to make your first call.

Are there any providers in UK which would provide already activated prepaid sim cards or they would get activated when you put them into your phone or when you get your first text message?

    Thanks for a help.

Were you thinking of buying a pay as you go simcard or a contracted sim card?

Well i don't think there is a way of buying just a sim card pay as you go and it being able to work as soon as you put it in your phone, all of the UK's major phone networks (Vodafone/O2/Orange/3/T-Mobile) only sell contracted sims, where you can just put it in the handset with no activation.

Basically what Burnley said, I don't think any phone company in England sell already activated sim cards. Either you can ask the guy at shop when you buy it to activate it for you, or buy a pre-owned one that is already activated.

You can go to the shops and activate it there. Try 3.
