It's pretty easy to know if you have done RWT on your account. They search the list of IP's your account has been accessed from and look for either outliers or better yet matches with already known RWT IP's.

For instance, if you were consistently logging in from:
71.142.*.* (California, USA)
And one day you logged in from:
27.8.*.* (China)

It is a good indication of RWT. Especially if they're already monitoring specific IP's of suspected gold sellers.

A useful aspect of the GE is that it allows jagex to easily calculate the net value of your entire account, whereas previously it would be impossible without maintaining aa database of item "street prices", as they would have to have done in the pre-ge era.

Each time you log in and out jagex can log the wealth of your account easily. If you logged out from a USA IP, then logged in from a Chinese IP, and the net wealth of your account increased by an even (or close to even) 1 million GP, they know you've bought RS gold. Pretty simple.

EDIT: OP, you have absolutely nothing to gain by ratting out your friend, or even an enemy. Your desire to do so is a good indication of your immaturity.

If you were to have a maxed out 70 def rs acc with over 1.2bill, Including a white/purple, I honestly think you would try and get back the account even if the rate of getting it back is very low, But since you will never obtain an account with such tremendous value, You won't know how it feels.
