Selling on eBay and thinking about quiting my job.

My dad sells thousands of items per year imported cheaply to.

Not going to get into profits, but its well enough.

He still keeps his casual job, he only works like 10-12 hours a week anyway, just for a back-up plan because sometimes you'd get a faulty equipment or software and you'd be behind on money, or another competitor would sell at a cheaper price and fewer would buy from you.

 

Well the best thing to do is to get a real job if you want to?

 

I would listen to this guy, if you are buying things from like China that are faulty or are illegal to resell in the US or where ever you sell from then you can get screwed over if a legal case goes through on you. You can quit your job and make money off e-bay but, my advice is you should still keep your job just in case things go south...

 

If you decide to quit your job don't go out on a bad note. You need this place to vouch for you when you go out for future jobs.

 

Agree, you gonna need to get another job sooner or later. But if you feel like you don't want this job anymore - don't waste your time on it and quit.

 

Don't quit your job...Ebay is an unstable source of income..your going to get married one day and hopefully have kids and you'll be wondering ..What if i cant sell this time? will i be able to afford all of us eating today? Your father is smart. he Keeps his job at the same time just in case ebay falls through.

 

I wouldn't quit your job. This won't last forever, and you're going
to have to work your whole life. So get used to it.

Or just live a luxurious lifestyle while it lasts ;P

I agree with these two people. If you do decide to quit at least quit on a good not put in your 2 weeks and leave the work place nicely.

 

Yeah you should quit, but don't curse out your employers lol. You may need them for a recommendation someday, and it's also polite to give 2 weeks notice.

You're parents are just going to have to get over it. They weren't happy when I left my job at Staples to do repair computers on my own. Let them know you're making plenty of money, and you're making the right choice. They'll get over it when they see you making money.

 

that extra money u get from partime job is still worth it and its good to be occupied and interact with other people whilst working, ebay doesnt give u that.

Your only 17, if your making that from ebay you don't need your job. Sounds like a waste of time.

 

I think you go fine a job then on ebay because it is not a stable income and you will not surely get money instantly.

 

Have you explained to your parents how you're making $5000 a month?
