Either manual monitoring or looking for the common walking tiles clicked by bots. Both of which are pretty useless when someone is using an autofighter and not for very long periods of time.

One topic I do not think you cover is; what do they check/look for in this 5 minute check of your account you get banned for that you talk about.

My opinion of their detection methods is that certain things trigger your account getting noticed. Basically, it's looking for inhuman sequences of clicks.... be they too fast, too regular, nonreactive, etc. When your patterns are noticed, the software files a report, and a JMod reads it. I'm 99% sure that the report is a simple snapshot of a couple of minutes surrounding the time that you got noticed... otherwise, a JMod will have to dig through way too much data. The JMod then verifies if this behavior is indeed, 100% nonhuman and files a ban. I'm not sure if they file an "undetermined" and use it as further evidence in case you get caught again.

    This makes alot of sense.
When I used bots a few years ago with simple (some self-made) scripts, the ban rate was about 30%.
With the bots that I use now (bought from the well known sites) I haven't had a single ban at all.
Doesn't really mean that it's save to use bots, however my personal experience is that the quality of the bot matters.

    Indeed.
Your RS client sends your mouse location every 0.5 seconds to the server, where it may be logged for future analysing. Jagex macro detection software works by detecting any inhumane and repetitive patterns.

Reporting a player for macroing doesn't give an average snapshot like reporting a player for swearing, it sends them different info - macro reports don't matter much but may get your account to be reviewed and/or flagged.

Jagex have mentioned that for macroing bans, Jagex moderators even know (or have a good guess at) what macro software was used.

Both reflection and BCEL client hacks can theoretically be detected by Jagex - and I believe the latest mass ban and stat resets may be because Jagex are starting to use the client detecting approach.
But yeah, great thread, I agree with pretty much mostly everything there.

This is all well reasoned, and thank you for the insight. :) I'm having the theory about the new mass resets, too. I'm worried it means they've become more sophisticated in their detections, but we can perhaps never really know for sure. =|

Does having a barcode name make you look like a botter?

I just linked off your UE application and I found this guide very helpful. It helps a lot especially because I have just started botting quite a fair bit and quite seriously.

I agree with your points you make. I had one account I booted 2 hours a day get banned while another account I'd bit days on end and nothings happened so far.
