Selling on eBay and thinking about quiting my job.

Hey Sythe.

At the moment I have a part time job and at the part time job I get paid 49$ a day NOT excluding taxes. So about $360-400 every 2 weeks.

On the same token, I sell items I get from another country. I buy them for very cheap and sell them for a lot on eBay, (The price I list them at people think it's very cheap, so they sell the same day I list them.)

Anyways, on eBay, I run 6 accounts and with those accounts I pull in 5-6k a month and about 4k profit.

So I was wondering, from you opinion, Should I quit my job and sell on eBay full time?

(I know the answer to this question should be obvious but..The items I sell is a little risky because I am violating copy right laws, also the items are not 100% legit. So I'm a little light on importing this into the States. (it's software.))

Yes quit your day job and live your life. Fuck working. Unless you have nothing to do then, keep working to make that extra little bit of money.

 

i wouldnt quit your job, if anything its a good back up plan. just be careful, making money the easy way isn't worth getting in trouble.

 

Thanks blindkilla. I want to quit so bad. I could be doing other things then feeling like shit for 6 hours that I'm working. I get written up, yelled at, the whole 9 yards, but the reason I put up with it is because people say I need a stable paycheck.

Also my parents would kill me if I up and quit... But they have no idea how much i hate it there. Grrr!

 

I know having a back up plan is good but quit your job and start saving up so if you do lose that way of making money you'll still have money.

 

If you still go to school quit your job , if you don't well simply don't then.

 

I've had jobs like that, they do suck. If you hate it that much then you should quit.

Just make sure to save some of the ebay money incase the market tanks and you start making nothing from it. That way you will have some money saved while you look for a job.

 

I wouldn't quit your job, just in case something doesn't go as planned with your eBay selling you'll still have your real job to back it up. So just keep selling on eBay and keep working at your job.

 

You could lose your business at any time. If you're making 4k a month though quit your job, your wasting your time. In the wost case you just have to find a new job.

 

Thanks I may do that. I know I could lose my business at any time. However, we (sellers) have multiple accounts and streams so if one or a few goes down, we won't lose 100% of business.

But yeah... I'm thinking around Fed to just quit and give my boss the F U. :laugh:

I am assuming your selling keys since that is the "new" hot thing to make money off of. If that is the case I would keep the job or at least have a place to go to when your account gets banned. You may fly through their radar but normally you get closed down in a few months of selling.

 

No I don't sell keys, I sell full products, no different than buying from Wal-Mart. Selling keys or any of item like that is direct violation of policy. Not to mention you won't get shut down in months, but hours.

I sell software, dvds, etc. It's just like buying from a retailer, factory sealed.

 

You should keep the job and try and make more profit from eBay, like getting business partners or something then if you're making a good amount which a 'good' job is making then you can quit, as long as you've got back-up money if needed.

If I were you I'd quit and look for a job that you can tolerate.

 

well if you can, just keep your job and only work a few hours a week if possible. If you need to work X hours a week and X>20, I would quit. that's just me though

 

Having more then 1 plan is always helpful.
