Quote Notifications

I think it would be a good idea to have an on and of option to receive a notification when someone has quoted something you have posted. Agree or disagree? It should be an optional thing to have and very handy for some.

 

I've already suggested this before, but it didn't come through. All those people that post a lot would get tons of notifications. But I think an option to choose if you wanted to get those notifications would be good.

 

Is there such a modification? I think it would be a brilliant one. If people are worried about notifications, they maybe there could be an option added that allows them to disable notifications.

 

I agree... We should have the option. It would be quite useful instead of filtering through tons of post.

 

I too think this would be a great addition, seeing as I might post on a thread, want a reply, and then the next morning not remember to check.

 

Or you could just search your name every day and see the results.

Realistically, this would be a great modification, but im not sure if it has been made/is possible. If you're interested in a thread, you could subscribe to it.

 

I've been on other vB forums that have the option of quote notification. I'm not sure if we need to update our version of vB, though... something that Sythe is pretty strongly against doing.

 

Yep, I'm using a VB 4 mod on one of my forums which allows for quote notifications.

Just wondering, why is Sythe against updating from 3.6?

 

Support. This would be a great thing to have.

 

It would be kind of a hard thing to implant into the system, but really I see no harm in having it. It would be easier to just look at your recent posts and see if anyone has replied to the post you have made. It wouldn't be a bad addition, but really it's not needed and would be a waist of time. No support.
