You should try your luck on DDS battles. Also mage boxing if you'd like. You better have Chaotic Rapier before DDSing.

Just wanted to add that if your melee staking an account with high strength and low prayer is best, but most importantly you must get first hit, this gives you an edge and you need a good connection to do so, or master movement on, it will decide weither you get rich or win a few lucky stakes.

In the boxing video they don't switch attack styles.

That completely depends on the acconut your going to make.
Be more specific.

 

I have a pure range at the moment (currently at 56 Ranged and 46 Constitution). Will I do good at staking or do I have to make it a tank?

 

Get the ranging to 70 first, easier to find opponents.
And yes, that would work like that, just find opponents, do no-armor fight with them, and use Rune Knives / Obsidian Rings.
