Scam Report: bob1337

I bought a RS account from "bob1337" (http://sythe.org/member.php?u=229330) for $180 and it has been recovered 4 days after I purchased it. He claims that the person he bought the account from "straig"(http://www.sythe.org/member.php?u=76080), who is now banned, must have recovered the account.

Payment proofs: The payment was 50/50, 90$ for the login and password, 90$ for the recovery information.

So after I realized that the account had been recovered I immediately pmed bob1337 and he told me that the person who sold him the account must have recovered the account, and he is now banned.

So I don't know who is to blame here, I figured starting off with a scam report would be a start.

Do I need any more information regarding this? If there's nothing to do about this then just lock the thread and put it in the archives.. A response would be appreciated.

 

Were the creation details supplied with the recovery information that he gave you? If so, then he supplied falsified account details and you are entitled to a full refund from him. Should he fail to comply then he will be permanently banned. Drop me a PM to let me know instead of posting here - that way I'll be sure to get on the matter quickly

Bump, still waiting on this. I sent Alt the necessary information he asked for but has not replied to me since. Anyone else look into this? I should be refunded for false recov information.

I did twice now actually, however bob1337 recovered the account and let me know yesterday what he changed the password to and technically "gave" the account back to me. He said he used the same creation details and he seemed to had gotten lucky with the appeal.

For now, I now have control of the account, but it's going to be quiet a few days till i have to wait and secure the account with an E-mail and some recovs.

I'd like to keep this open for now, but no actions taken at the moment. If all goes well over the next few weeks and I secure the account, then hopefully all should be well. But for now I'll wait to make sure I get full control of the account.

EDIT: The account is no longer mine, yet again. Currently submitting an appeal in order to attempt to get the password back. Will edit this post to say how it goes.
EDIT2: Appeal was denied. bob1337 also tried to recover the account and did not have any success either. The appeal submitted by bob1337 must have been lucky. Regardless, I still do not have the account. Still waiting for Alt to get back to me on the subject so if we can finalize a decision here I'd like to finally end this.

Unfortunately in this situation unless bob1337 refunds you, you're going to be out of pocket no matter what, as it looks like the account is not going to be recovered back to you.
I honestly feel Bob is required to give you at least a 50% refund so you both share the loss - he never had the account under control nor secure, and he supplied potentially incorrect recovery information. This is all very shady on Bob's behalf, so I'll get the opinion of another Global and then contact Bob via PM.

 

I vote for 50% as well. If people can't secure accounts they have no business selling them.

 

Alright, I'm fine with that. Problem being is I contacted him about a full refund but he said he didn't have the money due to him being scammed $130. So he may not have the money, but that will be left up to him and whomever enforces when and what I'll be paid back, if I'm paid back.

Thing is, he seemes to have tried a recovery when he bought the account and all went well according to this vouch from the person he bought it from:

So in result, would this be considered proof as he did have full security of the account from October 10th 2010 till the date he sold the account to me? If the recovery test was successful, then the correct info must have been provided.

 

Well then it is quite likely he recovered the account himself, or supplied you with insufficient details to recover the account, or he never had the account completely secure with his OWN details - which is very irresponsible on his behalf if this is the case.
I have PM'd Bob now, his failure to respond in 48 hours will result in a Permanent ban.

I did not fail to mention that you did recover the account from me. The 8th post in this thread explains the day that bob did have the account in his possession and yes he did give me the password and I attempted to change all of the details.

I do believe Bob that the recov details are right, however, it's the only thing that its holding me back in order to keep the account.

I have never successfully recovered the account myself. The one and only time this account was recovered that I know of, was when bob recovered it and gave me the pass. I have pictures of being on the account for that time being and I have pictures of our conversation the day that Bob did get the account back. Somewhere around 24 hours later, the account is no longer in my possession again.

I haven't even spoken to you, I've been sleeping and I just read your msn messages. I did not refuse anything yet as of this time.

Alt, if it is okay, I am willing to give you the recovs provided to me, along with bob1337's approval saying that the information for the recovs is correct, and let you or any global try to recover the account based on the details that I have. If I were to have the account, I would not have had to do this, unfortunately I do believe bob that the original owner has re gained control of the account, however the fact is it is no longer in my possession and my $180 has literally disappeared. I have a list of all the attempted recoveries on the account and I've really decided to give up on it. Not sure if bob may still have the accepted appeal tracking numbers or not, I never asked for them, which would provide that he did recover the account successfully (which I do believe).

I am willing to work something out with bob and allow him to stay here on Sythe, as he seems like a good trader just caught in a bad situation. I am not interested in the accounts he is offering, however whatever he may make from selling the accounts, may be close to the 50%.

I would like to work something out where bob can pay me the $90 and keep him active in this community. He really is an understanding person and would hate to see him forced out of the community.

 

Currently creating an Iban pure account in order to sell for $40 or so. Bob1337 has created the account, gotten it membership, and currently I am botting the account to 50 attack 50 theiving and 50 agility, and will be getting some money on the account for some quests for bob1337 to do. Once everything is all set he will be selling the account, and he will have enough to re pay me. Should only take about a week to finish the account, and get it up on the market for now.

I will post back how things are going every few days to inform everyone on when I will be re paid the $90.
