GP Donations

Since you will be able to free trade again, why not bring gold donating in?

First, it's still not confirmed that free trade will be back. Also, I'm sure there are a few other things that would cause issues like how are the Sythe staff going to sell the gold, etc.

 

Wasn't gold donating only used for a gold shop? I remember reading some wheres that someone said it was really over priced and not really successful. I could be wrong though I think I read this months ago.

Just sell your gold and donate the money.

 

I am not sure how they did it back in the day, but I am guessing sythe sold the gold in exchange for money but who knows how much gold will be worth if this new update comes and it's not coming for sure.

It'd be like 100m per a 100 dollar donation. I don't think it'd be worth it. Just my thoughts.

 

It depended on the time for how much a mill would be worth. Sometimes they were work $3-4, or $1-2, etc. Matthew was the one who handled all of them, and he had his own gold selling shop where he sold the gold, took a small commission, and then split the rest with Richard.

Yes, Matthew and Richard do split and pocket the donations 50/50 if anyone was unaware of that little fact. None of it ever actually sees the site itself.

 

It could work, just accept 5M as the lowest amount to donate.

I'd love to see this up and running again IF free trade is implemented, its a great way to increase donations, and im sure theres several users ready to donate this way.

 

Yeah I am thinking around $1/M but since sythe does not take paypal donations I'd expect the same for this and not many people will wanna wait days to receive their gold.

Well sythe doesn't want to take paypal because of charge backs, donating by gold could be just as dangerous if it's risky due to "jagexs system" to catch these real world traders.


Pretty sure he'd not want to accept gold as donations if his account were to be banned right after. As for people not wanting to wait to recieve their gold that's not really a big deal.

 

i suport this but the free trade may not happen because jagex will soon be creating a NO vote for free trade if that overcomes the yes votes were all screwed hope it doesnt happen

The Runescape GP Donations were stopped well before the trade limit got first introduced from what I know. Bringing this Donation method back would be way more effort than it's worth, and an extremely trusted member would have to commit a lot of their own voluntary time to the venture.
The Shop that used to sell the GP gained was called "Sythe Mills", and the money earned through these sales went to the site - the amount made would also correspond with the rank that the donating member got.

 

What do you mean it corresponded with how much is sold for? Like if there 20M sold for $50 they got $50 donator? What about Tgump with 5M+?

 

5m was worth 25 dollars I think so if the gold sold for 25 dollars that's what the rank he got regardless of donating 5m. (I think)

 

But his rank says 5M+ not $25+

 

The ranks were only related to gold and were later changed to money amounts. (I think)
