I halfway agree with this, but i believe it shouldn't matter as long as it is not happening on sythe or to sythe members. That's like me getting arrested in Canada, And the USA and Canada want to both prosecute me. It does not make sense, what happens somewhere else, as long as it does not involve sythe in anyway then it should stay that way.

I certainly agree with this, assuming the activities that are being practiced on the other site are not against the law.
E.g. Scamming would be bannable on Sythe because it's stealing and against the law.

The reason we ban scammers who have scammed offsite: If they've successfully done it before, they'll most likely do it again, so instead of having another scam report to deal with (which we will), we ban them, pretty simple.

The reason we ban Phishers: Could potentially phish an account here, could potentially Phish runescape accounts, then sell them here, which leads to them scamming when the Original owner recovers, Phishing shows very bad character, and simply. we do not want that kind of person here.

@SuF, to be brutally honest, I doubt this will ever be accepted.

If they successfully scammed then it wouldn't of been proven they did it.

Probably explains why The legit shop wanted this passed. He was banned for hacking msns, hacking steam accounts, recovering rs accts.

Anyone can potentially do it even if they haven't done it on other sites. I guess they'll just have to use different alias and not be stupid.

In what way is phishing different from scamming?

I think it is alright as long as you never talk about it on sythe or attempt to use it on sythe or against sythe. (phishing sites etc.)

So you think phishing is okay? If some one is phishing accounts on one site they are most likely selling them on sythe.

Did you read the OP? Scamming would be a ban, since it is not accepted anywhere and thus would be a bannable offence anywhere. Phishing is the same way. However, the discussion of phishing is not disallowed places. Now, what good would come of banning someone who knows how to phish? None. At all. You do not need a trusted account to phish. It would be dumb to use one. Thus, it does not make logical sense to ban them. There is no reason behind it, so it should not happen. Same is true to hacking. Cracking. DDosing. Banning people who discuss these or even partake in these activities does nothing but make them hate Sythe. This causes them to come after Sythe. It makes logical sense to not ban these people.

I know that many staff agree that banning people solely on offsite activities is dumb. Yet, none of them are willing to post in here. No one is willing to support this and thats quite annoying.

And about your phishing Runescape accounts problem: If they phish accounts and sell them here, they are taking their offsite activities onto Sythe which would warrant a ban. I would also like to point out. I can easily make my own phisher in like an hour. Its honestly not that hard. Banning people who want to learn how is just dumb. If they can not figure it out on their own, they will most likely fail anyways.

About reading OP, I was addressing users who have mentioned about 'why you shouldnt be banned after scamming/phishing', not yourself.

I see the logic in what you say, offsite activities will have an impact on their character, whether here or on a different site, Protecting the users is a vital priority, even if they didnt consider scamming/phishing here, It shows bad character and leniency to possibly doing it into the future, alot more so than a normal user, anyhow.

The bad character lecture again. Don't take guesses on whether someone will do those on this forum or not, because your predictions won't always come true. You'd be banning a valuable marketeer who has no intention of getting banned, all because he engages in activities you call 'bad' and you 'assume' he'll do it here too... If you're so concerned about user protection, then give them a TwC?

Character should not be the only reason for a ban but should be allowed to be used in combination with something else if that in itself is not enough for a ban.

'Bad', Phishing is not bad? Theres is no way I would let a known Off-site phisher anywhere near the market, How could he be trustworthy?

Its simple, Sythe will not endorse and harbour these individuals, its the policy of the site, a site based on honesty and Trust.

And you've honest and trustworthy your entire life? Hell, there's been lots of mods that 'looked innocent' but they had a dark past behind them (Kadaj for example). I'm not accusing you, I'm saying we've all done something bad at some point of our life.

The only ones that fall for these phishes are the fools. And these fools need to be caught in the net once in a while to learn ways to avoid it.

And by people who had no intentions of getting banned, I meant people like Luke. Did he ever do anything wrong HERE? No, he was banned for 'learning how to keylog' on HackForums. It's pretty ridiculous, really.

Sometimes, things like keylogging can be learned for educational purposes. It's useful to know how these things actually work.

Yes, people make mistakes in their past, and we do learn from them.. However, Staff is different, as they're normally the most associated with trust.

Sure, maybe it would help, but it won't happen while they're here, from here.

CAN be learned for education purposes, but lets face it, its obvious that it wasnt for 'education purposes', And if you believed that, I think you'd fall into the same category as you determined phished users.. A Fool.

If it was to prevent it, why would you go to a blackhat society and ask?

Reasoning? It's not like trusted members or huge donors (Fatih) never scam, and even if you are bestowed with a mod title, there are people I trust more.

You misinterpreted. I was using him as an example. I do not know if Luke's true intention was to keylog others or not, because you can never know what's really going on in a man's head. I remain neutral on his case, neither supporting a ban or an unban. It would be hasty to simply make a guess.

Curiosity killed the cat, maybe? My guess would be he thought that people there would know better about it. Or perhaps he wanted to keylog a family member to spy on them? Who can tell?

It's not against hackforum rules technically. It's frowned upon but not against.
