If it's regarding the topic I don't see it being spam. It's just the market section and nothing really intelligent goes on in there. If the rules are really that strict there should be a no posting rule and just have everyone PM the thread owners with a bump button every 24 hours.

I don't find half this stuff spam at all, Sure added(smily) and free bumps are but most people in the market are there to sell buy or scam they don't care about post count and most are quiet young. Its not a forum to write essays of text.

Ironic, September 2010. Post count is very unimportant to the average user and the only thing people seem to cite to claim otherwise are extraneous circumstances like 5 PC vs. 5000 PC. These kinds of people tend to be the same simple minded individuals that think vouches are some points system that should be judged on quantity instead of quality. In all honest, with so many lobotomized monkies running around it's no wonder so many people get scammed.

If you don't understand the reason why someone would want to confirm they are talking to someone let alone make public the fact they are currently in the process of arranging a trade then I don't know what to say.

I get about 5-15 MSN invites and at least a dozen PMs a day. A lot of this stuff helps me communicate with other trading parties, or otherwise simplify the trading process.

"Add me - [email protected]" messages are extremely helpful to me, as I know which person to initiate a conversation with, and I can find their name easily using the search option in MSN.

"Added" is also somewhat helpful because I know that I can now expect to talk with them on MSN. Again, it allows me to use the search option in my MSN window

"I'm interested in Acc 3 -- [email protected]" is also useful. It tells the person to expect a MSN contact about the sale, and it also lets them "search" for my msn and type a quick, "Hey bro, still interested?" Also, it can preliminarily prove that my MSN isn't hacked.

"PM Me" helps tell other people to PM with the same question; it also helps me because typing "PM me" is a lot easier than actually PMing the person ;) There's a 30 second cap on messages, but there is a 60 second cap on PMs. They can overlap, and I often post in between the 60 seconds per PM response.

"Talking to you now" is extremely important. I use it to link my MSN email with my Sythe account, basically to prove existence of my Sythe account. Why not do this with a PM? You'd never believe the idiots I've seen. I've found it can save me at least 2-3 minutes per trade just asking them to post rather than PM. ("Durr, what's a PM? What's your username? How do I PM you?") I figure they've already seen my thread, so asking for a post there (and responding with one) is just much, much, much, much simpler. Plus, it's there forever now--I can use it in a scam report, whereas having to dig back 5-6 days worth of PMs is fairly arduous for me and a lot of users on here.

As for "free bumping", "nice account", and off-topic remarks are spam and have always been considered spam. Mods don't have thousands of eyes, so it's our job to report the posts and the users will get warned/infracted/temped according to the severity. It's the mods' job to judge the punishment, not ours.

This was posted on 12-15-2010, three days before this thread's complaint about it not being addressed:

One last thing: these are all very marginal methods of "boosting" post count. The market isn't the only forum that adds post count. For every time I post "Talking now" or "MMing this now", I've posted ten more times in another section like Runescape 2. I'm one of the apparent "few" who think post count is a bunch of garbage anyway. I looked at Gohan's 14k for the first time like last week, and I was surprised he had so much. I'd honestly never seen his post count before that.

Hm, trading doesn't take that long and you only need to vouch to confirm it to the public...
Also, you are saying "Post count is only important to simple minded people." You are obviously one of those simple minded people, post count shows evidence you've put a lot of time into the forum and wouldn't want to risk ban for a few dollars. If you see someone with 10k posts and one with 1 post, who are you going to trust more on your pin trades when there are no free MM's? As well as the fact that this forum is mostly based on people between 10-18 and most of them are 12. Since Runescape is a game targeting those age groups, so.... most of them are simple minded and that's why I want to abolish this 120 post count per hour method with minimal effort. Younger people judge mostly on post count, since they don't really understand the concept of vouches. Ok then, who even cares about these 12 year olds? The answer is.... you, if you want to have access to this site, they are the ones giving this site most of the traffic to keep this site alive.

So, you would rather save a few minutes out of your day then to reduce scamming? These aren't marginal "boosting" post count methods... You can easily do 120 an hour with minimal effort and if mods aren't looking out for it they'll get no infractions at all and actually waste more of your time following them up then getting a PM. A PM to me is actual proof they're interested in the account, instead of just posting for the post count.

Oh man, I really can't stop laughing. It's quite funny that you quoted my post with this response and then went on to give the same 10k PC to 1 PC example that I was mocking.

I can't tell if you're trolling or not. I really can't. If you are trolling, props to you for trolling in the community general section, takes balls.

You then go on to babble, I really don't know how to address this, sorry.

If you believe it's spam, report it. If a moderator agrees they'll be punished accordingly.
