I have always had a personal hatred of Microsoft Windows, and have never really felt like dishin out the cash for a Mac.

I just saw these posted on a thread (Fedora and Ubuntu) and did a little research, but wanted some educated answers and opinions. (Why am I looking here? Jkin lol <3)

I play WoW, and browse the good ol' world wide web. As well as my pics and vids and a small amount of video editing.

Would either OS contradict these activities? Also, would anyone mind comparing the two?

You can do everything you've listed on Ubunto. They all work perfectly and have multiple guides on how to install and use them. But for Fedora, I have no idea. Sorry.

Ok, I'm going to choose Ubuntu. Is there a way to download and install it, and keep all of my old files? Pics, games, vids, ect?

And Im installing Ubuntu to make my computer a little bit faster, so will dual booting and keeping my Windows 7 still provide the same result?

First, No, you can't install Ubuntu and keep all your stuff, least not well, since the NTFS File System can be glitchy with Linux based OS's. And Unless you Dual Booted and kept Win7, you would lose your stuff. However, dual booting will keep the Ubuntu fast, as well Win7 the same if not either a teeny tiny bit slower with boot up.

I've yet to try WoW on Ubuntu, but though when I downloaded Ubuntu on my old computer, it completely crashed due to the fact I lost power at the time. If you don't know 100% you want Ubuntu, then don't download it until you know you absolutely want it.

If you have an external HDD or a flash drive with 2GB+ space then you can install it on those.(See here - https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Installation/FromUSBStick)

I currently have Ubuntu installed on my external, so I can also boot up into Windows 7 in need be, however I never had the need to because anything you can do on Windows you can do on Ubuntu. If you want to run Windows programs on Ubuntu, check out WINE (see here - http://www.winehq.org/)

Well, when i first tried Fedora, My favorite part was how you can have 4 desktops and make them into this cube shape that you can switch around. idk what it's called but I liked it.

Ubuntu is really easy, especially since you can usually just download a firefox plugin for anything you do online.

Have you considered using a virtual machine?
