    Scamming = Prison

    Scamming=prison is true in the same sense that illegally downloading music=prison. It's happened a handful of times to a few incredibly careless people and it's not going to deter anyone from doing it. I'm not sure what you hope to accomplish by continuing to bump this thread, trying to tell people what's right/wrong is a wasted effort, not to mention incredibly egotistic and self-centered. If you're trying to convince people that scamming will land them in jail, well good luck with that, because we're looking at 0 instances of prison time versus 10,000+ scams.

    So yeah, why continue to bump this thread?

    Also, if you think that more people will scam as a result of people saying that nothing will happen to them, that's hilarious.

    Edit: As Nate pointed out this is in fact in the wrong thread

    By the way, continuing to argue after you've been proven wrong completely defines ignorance.

    The dutch kids who were arrested threatened him with a knife, and forced him to trade over the items, hence why they were arrested, NOT because they "stole" runescape items.

    This argument is ridiculous, if you think anyone is going to serve jail time, or get a $10,000 dollar fine for stealing a runescape account your ignorant. Many accounts and items are stolen on many games, nothing has ever happened from it. Get used to it.

    I'm not disagreeing with you or anything, but do you ever think a scam that was proved a scam and you had enough evidence to convict (For instance a confession) that you could take it to a small claims court and sue the person directly?

    Not all reported scammers are taken seriously by the law department. Therefore, many scammers ultimately succeed in scamming RS accounts / hacking into accounts to drop the items on that or to sell that account because they are/were unable to provide proof of the account being hacked.

    Point is, for top safety, keep track of all your dialogue through texting, phone calls, emails and MSN for proof of your account being hacked / sold (and the person charged back money).

    I'd just like to add that all I am doing is pointing out statements and am not making any opinion.

    ^Agreed.
    Runescape does NOT fit under the online fraud category.
    After all it's just pixels and a bunch of intangible objects.

    My point is unless you can give SEVERAL examples of someone or someones being fined $ (of any amount) OR put into jail (for x amount of years) for HACKING an RS account, your thread should be very well considered a false statement.

    As scary as it sounds, I do not believe any lawyer will be taken seriously arguing for some online game acct being stolen.

    If it involves a mentally ill user of runescape who's account got hacked, then decided to commit suicide, then there is a possibility of prison.

    Remember that I am not taking any side here I am merely stating the facts mentioned by the government.
