You on broadband 20gb download per month?
Well, telecom isn't the best internet provider in the country. Orcon is by far. By the end of next year (supposedley) internet speed is meant to be a lot faster then it currently is, as you've probably heard on the news high-speed internet cables are in process of being installed.

Wait, so you're connected directly to your router?

I got a new modem from my ISP because I knew someone who worked there and they gave me two new ones free and my speed did increase.

Some routers are able to hold onto the internet connection better than others, people with low quality connections may find that certain routers may be more reliable than others. I've always stuck with Netgear as their routers have always been reliable and fast for me.

Usually, the router provided by your ISP does suck, and in most cases replacing it may boost your connection. But if your internet is regularly slow, it could be down to other things such as line quality or maybe your ISP is having problems with your exchange.

The router does make a difference. For instance a wireless G router, old fashioned, is not nearly as fast as a Wireless N router. Look at the Xfer speeds of the router. That is the key note when purchasing one
