Why So Many of You Get Banned/Stat Reset

JaGex isn't stupid. They have a whole team dedicated to "investigating into the community." They have a whole team who go through cheating forums and ban botters and cheaters.

Consider this scenario:
You just got 99 fishing with some bot. You decide to show off your accomplishment on Sythe or some other cheating forum. You block out your name and most of your stats, thinking you are safe from being banned.

JaGex can add 2 and 2 together. You got 99 fishing today. JaGex takes a look at everyone who got 99 fishing today...most likely something like 20-30 people. Now they just compare your stats with those players. Even if you keep just a single stat in the picture, E.G. 68 slayer, they will get you immediately. Its unlikely any of the 30 players who got 99 fishing today also have 68 slayer. All they have to do is eyeball their stats, and "hey look, bob123 has 68 slayer and got 99 fishing today *resets stats*.

And if you did edit all your stats AND your character out of the picture, you just took a picture of the coordinates you got 99 fishing at anyways. All they have to do is find the player who got 99 fishing at the far west fishing spot at catherby today. "bob123 was the only player who got 99 fishing today at these coordinates! *resets stats*.

This is easy for them. They have systems in place designed to do all of this for them. They do this everyday 24/7.

Even a single picture with all the recommended precautions used can get you banned easily. The only way to be safe is completely edit out the entire picture but the level up interface at the bottom. But then again, what would be the point of that?

Just something I thought I should point out after viewing some of the "show off your botted stats!" threads.

I like your theories on this matter, but none the less we have to many of these thread on the site to begin with. Anybody here who gets banned knows exactly why they got banned or stats reset, its as simple as that.

I totally agree with you, would only make sense for them to do that. Thats why I dont ever post my bots levels and my mains are always offset by 6 weeks to 2 months.

 

Hasn't happened to me yet, and I barely blank out any stats.

 

i didnt blank anything out from my skiller last 99 even i had a reset why not the 2nd time a ban or reset... so i think you are wrong mate

 

Why would they waste money on hiring people to do this when they could just get software that detects botting behaviour and automaticly resets someones stats?

Me either. I've posted at least 100 screenshots of accounts which I botted on forums. None have been banned after I posted the screenshot.

It makes sense, but Jagex doesn't care that much. I doubt it falls into acceptable evidence for them, anyway. You can take a ss of any old account and claim it was botted.

 

JaGex does have a team that goes through cheating websites just to ban you guys. They've mentioned how they do this exact thing on the moderator forums several times.

You can even see their Investigation into the Community team at their "About Us."

All of these people are payed for going through cheating websites, banning players, making sure the developers know about the latest cheating programs, etc.

People could also hack accounts and take pictures saying it was botted.

Svew knows what he's talking about it, I definitely believe this. I've never posted a picture of one of my botted accounts on here and I never will (unless I'm planning to sell it). Even though it's unlikely I'll get banned/reset, I'd just rather not risk it.

 

Their investigation in the community team is a fact. A JMod has probably already seen this thread. They have mentioned it several times.

Their methods of banning players is just a theory however, though it would make sense.

I think you would be better off just playing it safe and not posting pictures of account you care about.

 

Now, we can't say this is fact so right now it is purely theory. Although it is a very logical theory and could potentially be true.

 

I usually never speak of my accomplishments by posting a picture. If I do, it will only be of the cape and the message.

I like to keep my account as private as I can.

 

I highly doubt this is the case, they wouldn't waste their resources browsing websites to just find a few botters an hour. They would have a better shot just going to the fishing guild talking to the people and if they don't reply just stat wipe them and then log them out and if they're just standing infront of the fishing guild for 10 mins ban them.

 

I don't think your theory is correct.

 

I thought jagex employees were not legally allowed to browse these sites.
