Why aren't *******s allowed?

I understand how they work, they dont bill anyone and all they do is give us free pins.

Why isn't talk allowed about it like, 'I can sell you a 3 min line for 40$.'

Any ideas why we should or shouldn't have pin lines allowed here on sythe.

 

They are illegal. Meaning sythe himself could face legal action from Jagex's lawers. Why risk losing his website?

 

Pin lines aren't illegal really, it just gives negative membership if caught with it.

He can't be prosecuted for letting other people sell illegal stuff, or most sites would be down.

 

They are illegal because it tricks the system. Giving the bill to the phone company.

Yeah, they're illegal. Though Sythe's not the one selling them, he would be the one allowing them to sell them on his site, which means he's the reason why they're doing it. So therefore, he could face consequences.

 

Sythe can't be held accountable for other people's decisions.

 

I think it's part of the reason powerbot was shut down last year and most of the other bot sites were not shut down. Sythe doesn't want that happening here.

 

Allowing the sales of something illegal on his site makes him accountable.

 

Going by that logic, isn't the selling of Runescape accounts illegal?

 

No, Selling Runescape accounts is breaking JaGeX's ToS, Lines are committing fraud on private business phone lines.

More than likely, I would say that more than half of the people selling account upgrades are using ********s. With that said I still don't think open discussion/sales on these things should be allowed. This is the main reason behind why we changed Pin sales section the Account Upgrade Section. It basically made things more legal.

 

The reason for the change is this:

When the Pin Sales section existed, users came here to transact these Illegally-gotten pins, This meant Sythe was liable for allowing illegal trade on his site.

Account Upgrades is a service, you allow another user to grant you membership, you offer the service here, so essentially no pins are sold, rather used as a way of completing a service.

 

I thought rsbot.org was shut down and changed to powerbot.org because of copyright issues with the "rs" part?


Anyway, in my opinion selling pins that were obtained illegally is the same as selling something stolen. Stolen things aren't allowed to be sold here, hence pins are not allowed to be sold here.
