Unreadable Disc [xbox360]

I need help on how to fix this issue..

All my games work for maybe about 5 minutes, and then go to unreadable disc.

Ive tried many things from youtube and always have came out negative with any results...if anyone could help me I'd be greatly appreciated.

How old is your Xbox? And do you know what type your Drive is?

 

my xbox is probably like 3 years old now and idk what type of drive it is :\ cuz it just recently got replaced like a month ago for the open tray/close tray thing xbox's do

 

Does it show up as Play DVD when you insert a game?

 

nah it just plays the game like mw2 for example.
Im able to play it for like 2 kills or so like 30 seconds, and it'll be running completely fine and all of a sudden just pop up unreadable disc.

 

Faulty drive. Send it to Microsoft if you still have warranty, they'll fix it for free. If not, they'll charge you $50 or you can buy yourself a new drive from eBay or something and do it yourself.

no it is not.

 

Shouldn't really matter if his console is flashed or not if he's trying to play retail games.

 

Kinda bs though cuz i just got my drive replace just over a month ago..

 

I am experiencing the same exact problem with my god damn xbox. When I try playing a game, it either freezes or says "This disc is unread-able". This all started occuring after the Kinect update. Before it, I was able to play any game perfectly and now it's fucked up. Plus to make it even worse, I bought Black Ops the day it came out top play it but it would say "This disc is unread-able" after getting like 2 kills. I couldn't even finish a game! My other games, I can play but after like a while it would say it. My Xbox is from the day it came out and got it repaired before when I got the ROD, luckily I had warranty on it and now after a year or more, it's fucked up again and I have no warranty anymore.

I blame nothing but the Kinect Update, everything fucked up after that day. Fucking Microsoft.

Kinect has nothing to do with it. Unless you own the Kinect system itself, the new dashboard shouldn't interfere with retail game copies. OP: Explain to Microsoft what happened, they should be able to track your console update and if they actually did replace it over a month ago and this is happening again, they will replace it for free.

A week ago? weird... the Kinect update was about a month ago. Are you sure a week ago?

We're both having the same problem and I am certain that it's the Kinect update. There's nothing to do but to send it to Microsoft to get it fixed. They tell me that I have to pay $150C including tax to get repaired. I said fucked that.

 

yeah easier just to get another damn xbox lol and yeah its been a week or less since it happened

 

The thread didn't help at all but thanks anyways.. I tried everything suggested in the thread but nothing solved it. I can play a bit of some games like Halo Reach so It's all good but it does get annoying at times but I am grateful that at least it works to that length. I heard a new console is coming out in 2011 so I'll just wait for it.

 

yeah i just tried to save to my drive andit got to 32% before saying it was dusty or scratchy even though there's no dust and no scratches on the game
