Entire Rules Of Sythe In One Page

I would support this because the logic behind it works well, new members join the site, quickly check the rules and away they go. However I'm going against it for the simple reason that if every rule was compiled into one list most people wouldn't bother to read it. Keeping the important rules in the Sythe.org Rules sticky works fine as it doesn't seem overdone and a member will generally read them.

I can some up all the sythe rules in two words "Common Sense".

Why not just create a Sticky Titled "Rules" Inside just post Use Common Sense I think that would be efficient

 

"Summing" up all of the rules is a lot more than common sense...

Can't create two accounts from one IP - EVEN IF YOU ARE SIBLINGS. <---- This rule in particular is counter-intuitive unless you know the general sense of Sythe and how much it protects members
Can't obtain vouches from people you knew IRL before Sythe <---- I have yet to know why this rule exists, but I'm guessing it's because it was abused in the past?
Various rules against spamming
Rules about vouching
Rules about what pics to show in a selling screen
Rules about selling a guide
Rules about buying a guide
Etc, etc, etc.

Btw, I'm not saying that none of the rules make sense. I'm just saying that many of them have surprised me when I first read them. Many probably still will. Rules are generally created in reaction to a particularly idiotic/heinous/crafty act of one person... So as long as the crafty keep getting craftier, I'll continue to be surprised. Although adding ONE thread with all of the rules is a daunting task, it can prove to be very helpful. I'm not sure if it will reduce spam/infractions, so I'm not sure it will outweigh the time of some poor soul to compile all of those rules.

In an ideal world, yes I'm for it. In this world, I'm only for it if someone else volunteers to compile the rules

 

Maybe if you read the thread, that thread discusses how to report People when specifically for a real-life transaction.

Most stickies with rules are specific for that section, If i dont use that section, then why would I want to read all of the rules for it? One whole Rules List would unattract users and they wont read it, most people don't even read the rules now.

I didn't say it was bad. I just meant to say that your point was the major benefit for creating the page. There are dozens of rules that surprise people, and this thread can prevent people being "off guard" by an odd rule they never thought of and getting an infraction.

 

This isn't going to happen. It would be a huge thread and no one would read the whole thing. Most people don't read the thread at it's current length. So contrary to your belief, I think combining all the different sections rules in one thread would cause more people to break the rules because they would be like "TL;DR" about the rules.

It's simple, just read the stickies in the sections you post.

 

The idea is to have each section neatly labelled and set out, so that the rules aren't as jumbled as they are.

If I want to know about my signature and I am a new user, I would go to the rules on the home page, and would scroll down to the section on "Signature" and anything that talks about the signature is put into this part.

Then, if I wanted to know more about vouching I could go to these new set of rules, scroll down to "vouching" and it would tell me the full set of rules on how to vouch, what not to vouch for, etc.

I will create a sample of how I suggest the rules look like soon.

This would only mix the "Global" forum rules and the section specifics rules. Which is totally unnecessary since most people don't even use 1/2 of the sections available.

But if you must, write up an entire draft of the new page, then you'll see its completely ridiculous to sit there and read it.

 

I would like to reinforce that this is not the average story-tale book. This is a book with "chapters" of which you choose which chapter you want to read.

 

Please write it up.

 

Honestly, it's much easier to follow a smaller set of rules for a specific section then to have say, just one huge list of rules.

 

I may start it but as a Sythe user alone, I probably will not be able to fill up every hole, therefore I would expect some help involved in this.
