USB Pen has been wiped.

My USB pen has been wiped, all the files have gone missing and it had A LOT of work on there. How do I recover all the data that was on the USB pen?

 

I'm not really sure if this will work for a flash drive, but something like this may work. You might also want to search Google for a possibly better software.

 

If what will work? I have asked around on msn and someone said to use the program "recuva". I am looking for any free options first though.

Also, if it helps a load of boxes popped up then everything disappeared.

Hmm.. I'm sorry to say it I don't really think that there is a legitimate way to get the files back if they have been completely been whipped out. You could try using a program such as a data recovery wizard, but things like that are going to cost money and it may not even be able to work. Did you leave the usb close to a magnet or take it out of your computer without using that little program that says when it's safe to take the usb out. If so one of these could be the source of your problem.

No, it does not require that! It encourages you to, but you don't have to. Scroll down and click 'download from file hippo'. Voilà, downloaded for free.

 

I believe there's file recovery tools out there that will recover files back that have been deleted.

I've never tried this out yet, but don't blame me if anything goes wrong, I've just heard about the program, I've never used it before. Just letting you know, do this at your own risk.

Basically, just select your USB Flash Drive, or as you call it "USB Pen" and look at the files you want to recover and just recover it. The program is called "NTFS Undelete".
