i'm sure it will be easier for you guys now that firez has been promoted, he's a lot more active than r2 was (from what I could see since I rarely saw him on)

I believe that at least 5 globals should be available for a quorum, as four will result in too many 2v2 ties. However, if there is no one ready to step up, there is no one ready to step up.

The current globals should vote on a new global out of the current sectionals (or other qualified members).

    Don't be so rude.

I personally do agree with SuF that it'd be handy to have a few more globals on the team but as you mentioned in your OP, the majority of the sectionals are new. If the current Sythe staff believe that the 4 we have now can handle to job for the time being then it should be OK. We've been a little short for a few months and things have worked out well.

    Only four globals?

Defining suitability is a very hard thing to go about. Teaching people how to moderate effectively is a massive step towards making them global "material". Then, it really just comes down to a trust issue and some faith that throwing a not-so-experienced moderator into the higher level will turn out well.

Reports are tedious, but the easiest of the duties that globals deal with, for the most part.

I am going to go on a slight tangent here, just for giggles. The notion of free will is loosely defined. Suggesting that moderators are slaves is a valid point. Maybe you absolutely love doing reports and you do them all the time for the fun of it. However, by stating that your duties here are because you volunteer implies work. Volunteering implies work and work implies unpleasantness or some sort of that. In addition to this, in case you love work, you stated that you take time "off". This implies that you need a break from your duties and thus, it must not be something that you truly love. Thus you could be sacrificing your own happiness to keep your moderator position, that you must like else you would step down, and thus moderators could be considered slaves, if not to a person but to a position or yourself.

/End Tangent and not so good logic or argument.

    There is also administrators remember.

The current staff could be completely wrong about their belief. Therefore, it is important to plan for the possibility that they are wrong. There may not be an easy solution, but attempting to resolve it is a great step.
