Here's an interesting business idea

Me and my friend Cadvahn are considering opening up a barrows business, where we do barrows runs for people.

An interesting thought came to me:
What if we do runs for free, and you keep the runes, bolt racks, and key halves for free, and charged 75-80 cents per mill we make in barrows items?
Let's say we do like 20 runs, make 1.2m in runes and get a dh helmet.
Dh helmets are 8.2m, so 8.2x.40 = ~$3.28
Meaning you got 9.4m, where other shops would charge anywhere from $15-$25, for 1/5 or less of that.
Also, if you aren't expecting a dh helmet and only have $2 available on paypal, we can sell the dh helmet for gold, then buy junk with that gold and leave the junk on your account for a huge discount (5 or 10 cents/M)
If you have someone that can buy junk for cheap, or if you have an item you can lend out to get rid of it, you can acquire some extremely cheap gp.


My questions are:
Would you be willing to pay for this service?
How much per million would you be willing to pay?
Any changes that could be made to this service that might result in increased orders?

All input would be nice.

Yes, it is indeed a very good idea. But are your prices going to be sufficient enough to motivate you?

Barrows isn't the BEST and most consistent money making method. Furthermore , you are charging 0.30 - 0.40/mil which is considered VERY cheap.


Won't setting up a botting business/questing/torso/defender/firecape be more efficient if you are looking to make money?

Your idea WILL take off, but how well will it take off?
You can make easily 2x the money by doing other services.

EDIT : Oops, actually you can just adjust your prices to make your business well-worth, for example charge 0.80/mil . People will find it reasonable, you will earn enough to keep yourself motivated. Also, perhaps the 0.30 - 0.40/mil could just be for the first few customers, so you can trust and vouches.

 

Good thinking. I want to keep prices low since yes, it isn't very consistent money. But I guess since the only thing we're gonna charge for is barrows items, the customer would be happy keeping the runes for free.

 

What would you do about lower level accounts that aren't really good enough to do barrows?

Just exclude them, or possible hike the price?

Hell. That sounds like actually a pretty good idea.

It's basically a win win situation for the buyer. They can buy gold gathered at a low price, and; they get experience. Plus, if they don't receive any gold, it's free and they get some experience and break even for the most part, or a bit of a gain.

It sounds like a good idea things about it could be improved but i cant think of some ideas for you right now. Ill post them when I can remember them =)

 

Are you sure it will be profitable enough for you?
I've NEVER done barrows myself, but can't it take a while before getting decent loot?

 

yeah i'd be pretty happy in joining some sort of business and forming a potential friendship with you guys as i've been looking for a way to make money for my irl.

 

i'd lower the price to about 55-65cents per mill when just starting out, it would draw in more attention for cheaper prices. and i think this is a good idea =]
