Runescape resets : what is it actually about?

I browse the forums and read that( about resets ) :

1. Jagex is changing the punishment from PERM ban to reset to eat more membership money

2. Jagex is doing it on purpose, it was not a glitch.

3. This has to do with the corrupt script interfering with the RuneScape client.

To be honest, i am pretty fucking sure that it IS in fact, the 3rd option. I don't really understand why so many people will think that it was Jagex's intentions or that is was the punishment of macroing being changed....

WHY?

a. Resets of stats mainly brought stats to 10, or 98 ( for people with 99's )

If Jagex wanted to reset them, why these two strange numbers? I would just put them back to level 1.

Why would you reset a 99 stat to 98 ? What purpose would it serve, LOL.

And why are stats resetted only resetted to mainly : 10 and 98.

Is it jagex's favourite numbers? no...

This probably has to do with the macro clients interferring with RuneScape's. Don't ask me how.

Furthermore, accounts which were re-set, and sent in a bug report were perm banned immediately.

Those which did not, were banned sooner or later....

So if Jagex wanted to change the punishment, why ban them later L0L.

I think that it's a bug as well, but not one Jagex is really rushing to fix either though.

 

I believe the resets are indeed a bug that Jagex are aware of, however they are not fixing it as they can use it to their advantage. The only people who get reset are botters, so when these botters report it to Jagex as a bug, they know that person must of botted, otherwise their stats would not of been reset.

most reset pic's i see is usually 10 or 98.

worse still, some people go "FAKE!"

 

The resets to 10 are the more recent ones.

The early resets were to random numbers, most of them under 10.
My guess is Jagex caught on after a couple accounts were made with <10 hp, and so they set the base of the reset to 10. Dunno how that would work though.

 

Supports the idea that they were made aware of the bug, so they modified it to fit their needs but did not remove it entirely.

 

It is possible they just made a script who makes botters to bug and get a stat reset because of it.
or they atleast know what causes the bug and indeed modified it.

 

My friend had his fishing level dropped from 96 to 20-something. He was using a script and bot that he has been around for a long time. I hardly believe that it's the bots issue and that it is in fact Jagex. The reason why I myself am not sure.

 

But if u send in a bug report, jagex would perm ban you.

therefore, we can tell that Jagex PERM BANs botters.

so why would jagex give themselves extra work by resetting your stats....waiting .....then finally perm banning u?

 

It is a rather debatable topic. At first I thought Jagex were just resetting the stats of people they thought were suspicious of botting but didn't have firm proof. The thing is that's making it seem guilty until proven innocent, therefore being unfair on the players behalf if they're legitimate.

 

i guess that jagex reset it becoz u bot it ^^,well this is what i guess not officialy proven~~
