    Need serious help regarding internet

Ok well on my second computer (I use it for botting) I decided to upgrade from Vista to Windows 7.

However, now that I have upgraded I cannot get onto the internet. I could connect perfectly fine before, but now I can not. I have installed the drivers using the discs that came with my computer and tried downloading a few online and transferring them over via USB, with no luck.

Does anyone have any idea what else I can try? Buying an external USB adapter is out of the question at the moment.

What kind of computer do you have? Model Number? If you built yourself what kind of motherboard?

Start> type network> click network and sharing center.

depending on your setup, you will either see your computer and the internet (a globe) out your computer, then a server, then the internet.

You should see a red x between one out the connections. Click it and give us what it diagnosed.

My network adapter is a Realtek 8185 Extensible 802.11b/g Wireless Device.

I'm not completely computer illiterate, just completely stumped in this case as I feel I have done everything possible.

Troubleshooting basically told me to plug in an ethernet cable. Maybe it's trying to connect to the internet as wired, when I'm actually trying to connect as wireless?

Try to connect it wired and see if it connects you to the internet. If it does connect to the internet, then there's something wrong with your wireless connection settings.

I do have a 20m ethernet cable, however my router is 15m away (downstairs) and I don't fancy taping a cable across the ceiling all the way down the stairs :p

But does it connect to the internet wired or not?

lol It looks pretty ugly having a wire up on the ceiling. I know how it is... that's what I have to do to connect to XBOX Live.

Might be something with your router settings?

    Try re-installing your router?

    I don't know, just a suggestion.

What do you mean by re-install? I've tried restarting it, and there doesn't seem to be anything in the router settings that would affect it.

You got a Laptop, connect your Laptop to your Desktop through Ethernet, and bridge the connections. I've done it before, it worked.
