Runescape account recovery is screwed?

Ok so a week ago I bought an account with a middleman doing a recovery test. Few days ago the original owner recovered, now when i try to do a recovery, it doesn't work. Yes I have recovered the account before.

 

They started paying more attention to detail to the IP of the person trying to recover. IE they will accept the original owners recovery, while denying someone elses even if you both used the same info and everything.

 

oh thanks, so the IP would be very important since the original owner lives in america and i live in australia. thanks man.

 

That kind of sucks, as it is going to help scammers recover their accounts back more easily. This is why I don't buy accounts ^_^

 

Unless if both, the buyer and seller, live in America....Jagex will think their on crack for continuously recovering their account...LOL. JK

 

Just because they are from the same country does not mean they share the same I.P.

You would only have the same (or very, very similar) I.P to someone if you were connected to the same router as them.

 

actually, if your in the near suburb of them [for example, my friend and i] we're able to train each others accounts/quest etc. because we're only a few KM away from reach other, jagex looks at your 'state' or suburb, and thats how they recognize accounts being shared, when that IP of the area changes dramatically.

through their eyes, its either your sharing/selling your account, or you enjoy flights to america/australia every few hours, in which travelling hours are taken out of the calculation

That's due to the limitations of an I.P, and not Jagex being lazy.

The I.P will give you the country and probably the city... but not the street and house number.

 

I've been in the same situation as you bro, I bought an account and had the recovery questions, it still got recovered because of the ip address. Good luck bro.

 

You need to find a proxy housed somewhere in his city and try a recovery from there.

 

Can you possibly say you or your family have moved to Australia due to work commitments?

 

where is the account recovery section, i'm trying to get my main account back, Runescape Homepage has changed and I can't find the section on Account Recovery, anyone help me?

 

you just have to google it i couldnt find it either

to find the account recovery section, you have to try and log in, in the top right hand side of the homepage then click 'forgot password'
