Team Viewer - Connection Refused?

hello lads, having alot of difficulty connecting to my VPS. i finally managed to connect to it with ssh through Terminal, however i cant seem to connect to it with Chicken of the VNC (essentially the same as Team Viewer)

when i type in the ip address and password, it simply tells me connection refused. is there something i type in on Terminal to make it allow the connection to the viewer?

 

yeah you need to open an SSH connection.
through Terminal because I assume you're using Mac.

and you need to initiate the vncserver by typing just that.

If you have set it up correctly it should start up the VNC server and allow you to connect with your viewer

 

yeah i have a ssh connection with the VPS with terminal, i am indeed on mac.
i type in vncserver, it replies with a couple lines of text.

i open up vnc viewer, put in the IP with :1 at the end, enter my vnc password supplied by the VPS provider, and i just get connection refused sucks man paying for this VPS and i currently cant even use it
