Ever been discriminated?

Alright so im Romanian (basically white), born and raised in South West Detroit, I grew up going to shitty schools where 2/20 kids in the class are white and others being black basically. So I was pretty much either accepted or fucked with. However it was alittle of both. People liked to pick on me cause I was white and Id get jumped a couple times stared down everyday, shit like that.. I start getting alittle respect when I started fighting kids in High School but were not talking about that. It always seemed like they were out to get revenge for something. But I was raised thinking all blacks were bad based on what was going on everyday and from what family saw. So I rarely made friends with many other people due to that which could have ultimately resulted in me being an outcast.

So Im really curious, Have you ever been a victim of discrimination? Weather it be Age, race, religion, etc.. Or witnessed it for yourself from others you may know? If so what do you think you can do personally to become more ''culturally competent in your life''.

Any point of view you have on it will be interesting to me.

 

I'm a pretty white guy, and I probably get more shit for being so pale than any black guy does for being black where I live.

Yes. Traditional teachers grade our (IBs) work easier because we're in IB.

 

I made this a long time ago when I listened to Eminem and thought being a "gangsta" was all that.

Almost everyone gets discriminated in some way shape or form. Its horrible but sadly thats the way our fucked up world is. I get picked on because of having long hair. Eventually i just learnt to say "fuck off" or just walk away.

 

I've come across my share of racial discrimination.
A lot of the older generation seem to have some sort of distrust or inert hate for white caucasian foreigners like myself. It's nothing too serious, but it can get annoying/frustrating at times.

well isnt that a good thing? IB classes are harrrrrrrrddddd. my friend took HL physics, HL Chem, HL Math, HL Econ, and HL chinese. He nearly died in year one, then he dropped HL math

 

5 HL's is asking for it.

I wanted to take 4 but my schedule wouldn't allow it.
Now I realize 3 is enough anyway.

i been discriminated not in a racis way,but i m discriminated becoz i dun socialize very well,i m awkard and strnage boy :'(,but i m well respected in rs though,would love to exchange rs for real life~~i think i dun socialize well , becoz i m not working hard enuff in rl,if u work hard enuff,u will earn alot of respect i believe

 

Some Mexican people at my school made racist remarks against me for being a "chinese" boy. They didn't know what Korea was

Some Philipino people called me a "poor korean boy."

if u would consider racist remark,i would like to share,2 years ago i traveled to australia(im from asia)...there was this group of aussie people calling us chink,or chin i dunno how to spell it , at thst time i didnt knew it,but as i grew up i know that "chink" is consider a racist remark towards a yellow skinned asian~~

the girls at gymnastics sorta discriminate me cause there is only one changing room at the center so they make me change in the mail hall and sometimes just pop in and shit.
