God created everything?

mmkay soooo the bible tells that "god" created everything 6,000 years ago, then why is it that carbon dating shows materials millions of years old, even billions "4.4-billion-year-old zircon crystal" on earth, doesn't that mean that the earth alone is AT LEAST 4.4 billion years old? sooo that is just about 100% proof that "god" did not create earth, and even if he did why would the bible "most holy and truthful of all books" have a flaw THAT BIG in it? why would "god" lie? if you can answer me this using actual facts, I will be truly amazed.

 

I'm fairly sure no one answered this question, because it is too broad and probably not at the intellectual level meant for this forum.

To say the least,

Religion is interpretation of ones path to a higher being.
Christianity, is one of those interpreted paths.
With that being said, each religion is going to have it's flaws, unless you BELIEVE otherwise.


Belief and faith go hand in hand.

Yes and no.

Yes in the sense that the world is actually billions of years old, and no in the sense that other factors of the religion may hold true.

Religion acts as a metanarrative and those who choose to follow it project their values and personal needs onto a God who fulfils it for them.

 

There is no specific verse in the bible that states that the world is 6,000 years old. Nonetheless it is widely believed by Christians that this statement is true (that the earth is around 6,000 years old.

To be honest I don't think that these scientific facts should influence what religion you think is best, or most accurate. Personally I think that you should pick whatever religion you like best, and believe in even though science may prove it wrong. Basically what I'm trying to say is that you can still be a christian(or any other religion) whether or not you believe in the science behind it is true or not.

 

1. Carbon dating could be incorrect, and we could be way off on our dating.

2. Christianity is only one interpretation of what happened in the past, are you specifically attacking Christianity or all religion in general?

Everyone realises God isnt real, it was created for constructive power to teach good and moral values then was abused as it could be used as a weapon of fear and control....The Big Bang has been proven.

Nothing = Negative and Postive Masses, instantly being created and destroyed, through the whole amount of time, time has exisited, somethin wrong happened, and BANG the negative and positive masses pulled apart...blah blah

 

It is honestly pointless to try and prove God doesn't exist. The reason is that every single religion relies on Faith. "Faith is the confident belief or trust in a person, idea, or thing that is not based on proof". So you can bring up all the facts that you can to disprove a belief of a religious person, but he/she won't listen, they are closed minded people.

I know this because I am a Christian myself(Catholic). I also understand that many Christians (The Catholic Church especially) have caused many trouble in this world, and have had MANY corrupt members. This is probably why many people hate Christians. Many Christians try to force their beliefs upon other people, which I think is wrong and eventually leads to hatred/violence. I respect everyones beliefs. I just wish that we could all get along with each other.

 

Then it's also pointless to continue trying to prove his existence and try to force it upon people that want nothing to do with religion.

Seems to me you were simply harping on an unimportant inconsistency due to ignorance on the original poster's part; or even just a mistake.

 

My mommy told me that god is real so it has to be true, despite a lack of empirical evidence and it being an unfalsifiable hypothesis i think i'll throw my cards in with the invisible man in the sky.

 

I'm sure the scientist lie, because none of them are religious most of the time.

 

I'm an atheist but a friend of mine has very strong beliefs. He's a creationist and alot of what he says makes sense. Though I don't believe in a god, I don't see the point in religious violence. Everyone is just going against their religion, ecumenism is the way to go.

 

Carbon Dating can date up to 75,000 years ago. At least thats what my science teacher told us.
