    New Airport Security Measures

Recent Transportation Security Administration (TSA) airport security measures have sparked fury amongst air-travellers. The new security measures include whole-body scans and pat-downs which require the inner thigh area to be touched. The nature of the new measures are very intimate which has made many people question privacy. This has caused plenty of discussion in media, and even a new website has been made for travellers to discuss and make comments about their experiences.

I'm sure most of you have heard about this... Do you think these new security measures are too much in an effort to stop terrorists? Or are people just over-reacting?

Wrong area for them to start increasing security IMO. I mean honestly, what kind of stupid terrorist would STILL be trying to smuggle something into the Passenger area with him/her.

If that what it takes to make Air Travel safer then fine, go for it. People spend a lot of time moaning about terrorism but they don't seem to want more drastic security measures to be implemented. People need to deal with the fact that in order to prevent terrorism and other security risks, there is going to be have to be some level of privacy invasion. I can see why it might be awkward, but if you put everything in perspective then I'm sure anyone would realise that the safety of them and everyone else on their plane is far more important than how they feel about having their inner thigh patted down. Don't like it? Don't fly.

If they had known anyone affected by 9/11, or were themselves, they would be happy with the new policies.

You got your thigh touched, if you hadn't, a lot of people could have died. Get over it.

" American people are being to submissive " - Its necessary. You cant expect us to improve security measures and still keep as many freedoms as before. Its a weight and balance system.

Everyone gets searched, not just people, Ex-President Bush got searched.

Its stupid that people are fighting it anyway, your agreeing to they're terms when you want to get on the airplane.

Maybe if we abolished security all together, things would lighten up. If we just let people take any damn thing they want on a plane, terrorists might think twice before hijacking or bombing the plane. I mean, would you stand up with a gun on a plane knowing that half of the people there probably have guns and knives too? I wouldn't.

Whilst that could work very well, it could also go CATASTROPHICALLY wrong and result in multiple bombings, shootings, hijackings and God knows what else terrorists could possibly plan to do every day of the week.

Recently there has been a lot of up roar about the new body scanners and the pat down system for airport security. There is even going to be some strikes where every one will take the pat down instead of the scanner on thanksgiving day to slow up the lines in protest. What's your opinion on the matter?

    Some links on the matter:

I see no problem with anything that is protecting us. Just my opinion, though, of course.

I agree, but they are doing it to an extreme extent.
But yeah, it's all our opinion.

But we're living in a post-9/11 world now, things are different.

I think its a problem for some people because the federal government can touch you inappropriately but if a member of the public did it's a criminal act.

Considering a great deal of terrorists are brainwashed to go on suicide missions... I can't see this working safely.

What bothers me is the Muslim activist groups trying to get special treatment. I understand that Muslims are not always terrorists, but I don't agree with anyone getting special treatment based on religious beliefs.

I'd be quite happy to be around whilst they full body scanned my girlfriend, frisked my mother. At least I won't be crashing into any tall buildings.

i agree with this, if you give them special treatment everyone else is going to go nuts and ask for special treatment too but i think that if this is going to keep us safe then they should do it
