Cliff Lee Predictions

I'm interesting in hearing your predictions on where Cliff Lee will end up and how much money he will make.

I personally think he's going to the Yankees for $25M/5 years. I think the only competition against the Yankees is from Texas, who will probably offer around $18M/5 years - Texas is probably hoping Cliff Lee will take a reduction to play closer to home.

 

You mean 125M/5 years? Anyways the Yankees will probably pick up Lee instead of resigning Jeter.

 

If you really think that the Yankees won't resign Jeter, then you are out of your mind. Jeter is guaranteed to be back.

Anyways, I'd imagine Lee going to the Yankees with a contract similar to CCs.

He's slowed down ALOT this year, defensive and offensive. Even though they are the Yankees, they aren't willing to pay him big bucks for that kind of performance. It's a business, no matter if he is an icon or not.

Why do you want him to go to the Yankees when they already got Joba, Sabathia, and Pettitte and a whole bunch of 'fresh' pitchers on the team?

 

The Yankees need another starter, which is why I want Cliff Lee. Joba is a reliever.

The Yankees aren't going to resign Vazquez, and Pettitte's future is uncertain, so bringing in another pitcher is very important.

Possible 2011 starting rotation:
1. CC Sabathia
2. Cliff Lee
3. Andy Pettitte / Ivan Nova
4. AJ Burnett
5. Phil Hughes

 

But why pay the huge amount it takes for Cliff Lee to come in and play for the Yankees? Again, he's only recently picked himself up, and it's still uncertain whether or not he'll play as well as he did for the Rangers.

Who is Cliff Lee?

 

He's proven himself in the postseason for the Phillies & the Rangers. In addition to that, the Yankees need pitching. Cliff Lee is the cream of the crop in the free agent pitching market, and there aren't many plan Bs.

 

Hes probably going to the Yankees. Those fuckers can offer the most money and have one of the best all-around teams in the league.
