I feel like I'm going to explode...

Hey guys, I'm kind of stressed right now and dying for advice... Sorry if this is poorly written, I just woke up...

Alright, first of all, I'm 16 and have all grade 11 courses. . Now, among the courses I have this semester, I have grade 11 math (u) and grade 11 biology (u). I missed a week of school during October to go moose hunting. I knew it would have affected my mark, but I thought I could catch up.. I was wrong. My mark in biology went from 95 to 76... Just from ONE week. I had 4 projects to do and 7 or 8 small work tasks... I couldn't do them and I have been trying to catch up until recently. I got the flu just last week and had to miss another week of school... Now I'm 5 projects behind and I'm not sure how many small work tasks, but probably A LOT. This is really stressing guys, because overall after that first week I missed, my note kept dipping lower and lower down to a 67... I need to pass this course so I can accomplish my goal of being a paramedic, but with everything in life it's getting so stressing and I've pretty much said fuck it to school. I was getting straight A's in biology but the teacher gives about 2 projects a week and 5-8 work tasks... He's overloading me and I don't feel like I can keep going :/... I CANT catch up in school now. I actually ditched every other class to catch up in biology. I'm at around 40 something percent in math, and the rest of my grades are in the 60's...

What should I do guys? I don't want to abandon my goal of being a paramedic... But my teacher gives WAY too much homework... Please get back to me soon, this is depressing me, majorly...

Note: I have insomnia, depression and general anxiety disorder... The reason I tell you guys this is because it's BAD. My insomnia affects me so much that I only have about 4 hours of sleep a night (on average). If even that much. My depression causes me to get upset over everything and I stress out easily and I get EXTREMELY suicidal when I have too much stress :/... That's why I play this game, to just ease up a bit, blow off some stress... But when it gets too bad, I go for a workout session... Also, the anxiety disorder makes me kind of stress out a lot too over simple things, so that doesn't help...

PS: Please keep in mind I will NOT "seek" help for my depression. I've gone for it before and pills just make depression worse.

First off, Never say "I Can't Do this" because that just shows you have truly given up. If you don't think you can finish these projects and raise your grades then you aren't.
Yes, that sounds like much work to do but you need to be able to buckle down and just focus on it as best as possible. Not saying that your not, it just helps to keep hearing that you can do it.
I would talk to your teacher just to tell them your situation. Be honest and just tell them you need some time to help catch back up. Unless your teacher is a total bitch than you shouldn't have any problems. Take it slow but still do all the necessary work. Good luck and hopefully things work out in your favor.

No, I simply cannot catch up. The project I have are things such as 1000 word essays, 2000 word research reports, etc... My teacher even told me at one point I am going to fail... I wonder if I talk to guidance if I can just drop the course and get a spare instead of stressing out my entire semester and trying to accomplish something I can't (80%+ passing mark)... I mean, at least then I can try and catch up in my other courses that I do have hope in...

Thanks for the advice though, means a lot that you guys actually do care to write out a response.

No problem, I had the same feeling last week. Had like a test, 2 projects, found out i failed a test + now I'm failing the class, being relocated at my apt, can't register for more classes, had to work..all in a matter of 3 days trying to figure what to do. I pushed through most of the stuff and finally am not as stressed as I was.

Is there any friend of yours that can help you with your projects? Like I know you should be doing the projects and papers yourself but in all honesty, do you need to know everything about the projects you have to complete?

If there is no possible way to pass, I mean NO WAY not even if you get 100% on all your test you will still fail, one of your courses than I would suggest talking to some sort of adviser about dropping the class (if you can) and focus on the classes that you have a chance in. Otherwise I'd continue taking the class and just keep trying. Again, that's just my idea because I really don't like giving up on anything even if I know it won't help.

Nah, I just moved to where I am now, I don't know anybody (apart from the sluts trying to get with me.. lol..). Also, I'm about 99.9% sure I can't pass. It's been a week these projects have been handed out and they were due... so they're marked and I managed to do like 2 of them... Teacher at one point even hinted I'll probably fail the class. I'm not one to give up on this either as it's my dream, but why stress out and fail after giving SO much effort? I mean, I may as well abandon what I can't do and perfect what there is hope in, ya know?

Also, shitty buzz about what happened to you man :/ hope things get better.

I would recommend telling the teacher/teachers.
Just go up to them and say, listen I am struggling with my work and I could really use some of your help, if you say you are willing to stay after school for a little while each day, then they should help you.

I feel like I'm going to explode...

I could talk to the teachers, but either way, I'm in over my head. I've been working for 9+ hours a day on homework for about a month and a half now... That's JUST IN ONE CLASS. I talked to my mother about it and she got mad at the fact that I said I'm dropping the course... I tried to explain but she thinks it's going to ruin my future... What she doesn't she is how much it's stressing me out and how much work I'm REALLY doing...

Edit: Thanks for the help, guys :)

it may be abit to late but talk to your counsellor and do DL. DL stands for distance learning you just do it at home on your computer.

    Pros:
    work at your own pace
only takes a couple of months
most Dl teachers will get you to help design the course

    Cons:
    easy to get distracted

where I live Dl counts as a high school credit but you will have to talk to your counsellors

You should ask your teacher if you can come in before or after school.

You can't let small things like Moose Hunting get in the way of your grades. Don't you want to prosper in the future? Live on your own? If I'm not mistaken, the year you are in is one of the most important years.

Take it by little steps, with the time you can't sleep, study. Rid yourself off all distractions, or even take small study breaks every 15 minutes or so, whichever works best to help you out.

I hope that helped, if you want to talk about your depression, which I assume is a bit private, I'll be happy to talk on MSN with you :)

Take care man, best of luck!

The moose hunting affected my grade but I was slowly catching up... But when I caught the flu, that's when I fucked myself over... I do want to prosper, but it's so damn tough. This class is EXTREMELY overworked... Also, I was doing that. If I couldn't sleep, I'd study, but now I just fell behind too much. Also, I can't go to school earlier, since it would probably send me insane. I already get so little sleep and I have to wake up at 6:30 every morning to catch the bus at 7:40... After school would be an issue as well since it's a 2 1/2 hour walk back home... Besides, I don't need help. I'm extremely good in biology. I simply need less homework...

That's really not something that you have power over. There is no way that your teacher assigns you homework that takes you over 4 hours. You need to start managing your time right.

Have you tried sitting still quietly doing nothing, thinking about absolutely nothing. Sit still in perfect peace for about 15 to 30 mins. What your body and mind needs is rest and all I could read about was stressful activities. Many people overlook the fact that you need rest both physically and mentally. You say that you play games to release stress. No! you sit still, turn off your mind in silence to release stress! It should be effective enough if you do it properly. Hope you will give yourself a rest. After that, maybe you can think about what to do next.

You need to talk to your teacher. And your counselor. Tell them that you are receiving too much homework, and explain your predicament.

Tell them that you are doing more than nine hours of homework to get on top of the problem, and that you need help and a bit of leniency in completing your projects. If they're nice, and smart, they'll understand and give you that bit of headroom. If they're assholes, you need to consider whether you should even be doing those subjects at school.

Maybe consider a course like TAFE (correspondence training for a small fee, in Australia. You'd have something similar in Canada)
