Also, my brother is 17 and weighs like 130 lbs. He went and saw a doctor, he was put on some medication. You might want to try that too, I'd try going to the gym & going to the doctor to see what they say about it.

Eat foods that have lots of carbs. Just don't burn the carbs.

Eat anything that has lots of carbs in it. Pasta is a good example. Protein shakes would also be good as long as your working out otherwise you will just get bloated and not the way your wanting.

one way that will always work is eat carbs and not do anything, but u wud have absolutely no muscle is u did this.

if u work out and then if your sore, just chow down tons of protein and it will bulk u up with muscle.

if these options dont work, you should probably consult a doctor.

Don't eat junk food. It won't help you AT ALL. Unless you want to be fat :S

I had this same problem. I was 5'11'' , 115lbs , as a sophmore. I started doing cross country, track, and lifting. I started eating breakfast, and I also started doing those protein shakes. Ate healthy, worked hard, and now I'm 6' 150lbs :)

Over the course of a year :)

Best of luck to you :)

Don't eat junk food to gain weight, because most of them contain tons of unhealthy trans fats or saturated fats.

    Eat healthy foods such as.

    • Tuna
    • Salmon
    • Nuts "all sorts"
    • Chicken
    • vegetables
    • whole grains, like breads and cereal/bars.

Protein powders and nutritional supplement drinks can be added as in between meals if you still need more calories.

All information I got was from reading this site http://nutrition.about.com/od/dietsformedicaldisorders/f/GainWeight.htm

Also consult your doctor, maybe you have diabetes.

most people have advised you to just eat crap but...playing hockey you would feel the effects of it while training/playing my advise would be going on creatine to help your body produce mass and just hit the gym :)

Honestly, the best thing to do is look at your current calorie intake.

Whatever it is, add 500 - 1000 to it.

The average person your age burns anywhere from 1800 - 2300, So to counter this simply eat 2800 - 4200, You will gain a pound every 3 - 4 days, depending on your current habbits.

You may think you eat a lot, etc, But it's amazing to see how little your calorie intake is when you actually look at it and review it throughout the day.

Also, drinking 6 - 8 cups of water is helpful, and try and eat 3 large meals in a day, with 3 snack size meals, it makes your metabolism stabilize.

Never skip breakfast, It supports your body more then any other meal.

Normal exercise like simple workouts, such as push-ups and sit-ups are helpful as well.

Make sure the foods you eat are usually healthy, and you can have junk regularly, just don't over-do it.

    And LOL @ northface.
    Nammer ftw?

People recommend eating as much as you can, until you can't eat anymore.

What you SHOULD be doing, is eating around 5-7 small meals a day (balanced: nuts, meat, eggs, veggies etc etc). This keeps your energy levels optimum at every point in your normal day. By constantly giving your body something to eat, it is being nourished.

(just read what pkkid said, something like that: 3 large meals, 3 small meals in between)

Don't forget to stay fit. Run, do a sport, do a workout session, just to turn that energy into muscle. Muscle weighs more than fat. Try to stay off the computer for a while. Spending a lot of time outside can be a lot more beneficial for you than sitting down at a computer.

I'm 6'2, and 69kg. I'm pretty lightweight, but I can beat most of my friends in wrestling or anything like that because I have an extremely high strength to weight ratio. I also have trouble putting kilos on, but by having multiple meals a day, you are guaranteed to put on weight. :)

as boring as it sounds, best thing to do seing as you can't gain weight without eating ALLOT, just go the gym 5 days a week, then you will have muscle to take them out and you will weigh more aswell.

I haven't read the contents of this thread, but after reading the first few posts, I realized I needed to comment. -.-

Gaining weight is actually easy. You just need to know how to do it.

DO NOT eat junk food and DO NOT overeat. Both of these methods are extremely unhealthy and will not benefit you in the slightest. I would recommend purchasing a weight gainers protein power. Some of them can add an addition 1,000 calories to your diet. Over the period of a few months, you can gain a healthy 20 pounds. Trust me when I say you do not want to gain 20 pounds by eating junk food. Go with the weight gainer protein powder. Also consider hitting the gym.

Edit: Eating lot's of (healthy) food is good, but don't over eat.

I don't know about you, but have you tried swimming? it seems many people with high metabolisms are very lanky people.

Swimming is probably the best cardio as it works every muscle of your body, and after, if done correctly you should feel hungry.

In this case you should eat a VERY healthy diet, I believe that there a two types of people ( majority), and that is high carb low protein , and high protein low carb guys, personally I think you need to be a High carb high protein person.

If that doesn't work, make sure you get a check up from your doctor, just to check you dont have any nutrient deficiency, as a lack of iron may be the problem (iron helps absorb the nutrients).

    Hope this helps

If you really want to gain weight, please do it in a healthy way.

What To Eat To Gain Weight
Increasing your intake of junk foods and greasy foods is not a good way to gain weight. Junk foods usually contain unhealthy trans fats or saturated fats. Even though you need to increase your calorie consumption to gain weight, those calories should come from foods that are good for you.
Healthy fats include omega-3 essential fatty acids sources like tuna, salmon, flax, and walnuts. Good sources of protein include lean meats, fish, poultry, nuts, seeds and legumes. Healthy carbohydrate sources include fruits, vegetables and whole grains.

It may be easier to eat five or six smaller balanced meals per day rather than eating three large meals, especially if you are not used to eating much at one sitting.

Protein powders and nutritional supplement drinks can be added as in-between meal snacks if you still need more calories. Some protein powders are flavored and only need added water and some others can be blended with your choice of juice or milk to improve the taste.

It would also be a healthy idea to add a small amount of flax seed oil and some psyllium powder to add some omega-3 essential fatty acids and extra fiber.
