First off, I would like to thank everyone that has stuck through all my pesky little polls in order to have this guild created. It took a couple of weeks and within the next couple of days, our mission will be on its way, but there are a few bit of things that still need to be done. We will be thriving on you guys. This is going to be the 3rd sythe guild, but the first on a new server and the first on horde!

How do I become a member of the sythe guild?

To properly join the sythe guild, which for the time being will only be open to the members of sythe, you must fill out a form here on sythe:

Leadership Application:

Leadership Positions:
Guild Founder - there can only be one guild founder (gm). which is me, this cannot be applied
for. If I were to step down from leader, I would decide the new one with the co-leaders.

Co-Leader - same powers as a guild founder, has control of guild. This position cannot be applied
for, i will be choosing these people

Event Coordinator - has full access to the calendars. this person is in charge of creating
guild events such as raids, premade bg's, etc.

Guild Banker - in charge of keeping the banks organized, watching for strange activity, etc.


If there is anything specific that should be added to the thread, please let me know in a pm or post, and i will edit it asap. once again please understand that the thread and guild are still under construction

Question why does one require sythe rep/post count to be a officer of some sort? I would think you would pick officers from experience in game and how much knowledge the person has. Also no one in the sythe community knows who I am because I don't go on a posting spree on every topic that looks interesting. Just my 2 cents grats on the almost formation of the guild.

 

since it is a sythe guild, i would like to have experience sythe members leading it. not some guy that just joined. i really don't want to see inactive members as officers or people that i cannot trust as the position.

Well me and you for example lets say noname was founder and he makes a request such as yours. You and i joined in the same year i have less than 500 posts and you have well over 1000 does that make me inactive? How would you determine an inactive member from a lurking posting when you want to member?

As it stands these are not in my favor.

-have 3 people (all 6+ months/500+ posts) willing to put in a word for you
-known* amounst the community
Why does a member need to be known in the community? anyone could have 1000 posts and barely anyone knows him.
Know 3 members that will vouch for you how is any of this relevant to the success of the guild?

You could have all of that listed above but a normal member would easily be more knowledgeable and have natural leading skills which you lack. not targeting you i was using it as in the selected leader or officer for example.
why not give him them the slot instead? Yes i do believe the member should be around for quite a bit for the slot and of course you don't want a scammer that happens to meet the requirements come and jack the gbank.

But like i said i just want to understand not to put anything down or spam the thread we could discuss this in a pm if you would like that better.


Also no i don't want a officer slot as i simply won't have time for such things i just want the best man or woman for the job in that slot not favorite sythe member of the month.

I was going to I was jsut thinking on ways i can change it.

I do agree with you after that statement, it is jsut hard for people to see how much experience people have with wow and leadership skills. I will be changing them shortly

Agreed, but its gonna be a sythe guild, not just a guild.
So officers, should be legit sythe.org users ( not famous or popular or well known) but with no blackmarks on his trading life.

Possibly a leecher with 1 week here knows more about the game than me, but as you can see on the market section, a huge percent of those leechers doesnt even get the "member" rank, because they scam earlier.

We dont want and dont need that kind of people on the guild, and sadly the only way to verify that FOR NOW, its asking for some post count and join date.

(join date only doesnt count because i have seen many examples here, of people that made the account years ago, now they came back and started posting, post count doesnt matter too that doesnt make people legit, but both combined can give us an idea about the member's activity on the forum)

Okay well lets say theres a Mod on sythe who is level 60 on WoW,and then an Active member with about 300 post count joined in like September 2010 with lvl 80s and knowledge of the game,youre telling me you would give the mod the position..thats ridiculous-.- you would never raid.

 

No offense that's a piss poor excuse. I wouldn't even recommended you put a leecher as an officer. The point I'm making is you are requesting or even using post count as a way to judge a member. Granted it is a sythe guild but it is still a WoW guild and the values of a in-game leader requirement does not change. If you lack knowledge in raids/Have poor judgement/Poor leadership skills the guild WILL fail. You can have sythe mods and admins in the guild it does not matter it has to be ran the right way and by people who knows their ass from their face.

Famous people known and popular on sythe have mass amounts of posts unless they are old school and don't post on every topic appealing to the eye. If i posted on every topic i like i'd have more posts than karl and niini or however his name is spelled ( no disrespect intended ).

Having no black marks i agree i don't even know why someone with a blackmark would even be considered.

no it is not the only way to verify it that is the way you want to verify it. Having no officers is better than picking officers because they most more then other people is stupid.

 

No it's the member wouldn't be a officer because he lacks post count and depending on when he joined is a whole different issue of it's own.

Instead of saying well he joined in X month and has X amount of posts. Lets check the ''Quality'' of his posts lets ask him questions on the game/talents/skills required for a task. There is a decent amount of stuff you can gauge on post count shouldn't be a factor.

I totally agree with that, we dont want sythe mods, but we dont want totally strangers that just joined, and are gonna be banned in a week.

We arent judging people for his post count, post count means nothing else but activity on the forum, and thats ONE of the requirements that we want for officers and members.

Trust me IF someone has a million posts and joined the day the site was founded, but he is a dickhead, he wont be an officer. But a new guy, with 10 posts that joined 5 days ago its a posible scammer (id sayb 90% of users gets banned few days ago cuz they just joint he site to scam).
Unfortunately, we cant meet them irl and we cant see the future to make sure they are legit persons, so SADLY the only way we have to filter this persons are those requiorements.

Maybe Vouches might be a most accurate method, but some ppl its here for the community and not for the markets.

If you wnt to take the job to check the quality of their posts then the guild would arppreciate it.
And yeah, obviously they should have an overall knowledge about the game.

Its A factor, not THE factor.


We want the officers to be competent ingame, but also to be good community members.
THats why its a sythe guild and not just a guild.
